Hai guys!
I have a teleconference interview this morning (my time) with a kind Swedish gentleman (for a Swedish company). Would you kindly provide any tips and pointers for interviewing with the Swedes, please? I am very confident with my skill set among Americans but... Aside from being very punctual, any other suggestions? Pepper my conversation with, "mmmmm?" ![]() Thanks! |

Few typical questions they seem to like:
1) Why do you think you are good for job? 2) What are your strengths? 3) What are (weaknesses? which is not asked DIRECTLY in sweden) the things that you will like to be better at? 3) What your colleagues at work will say about you if I call them? (Every god damn interview I have been to (6 so far) everyone asked me same question. 4) If you are team player or you like to work alone? Why? ->> The best approach for this one is: I am a great team player but when it comes down to doing my assigned TASK I like to work alone with concentration and I am a self starter. Hope you know this tricky question. You answer on any one side, you get into rough waters. Overall, instead of tech stuff they try to find out more about you and your expereinces and what you have learnt. Good luck. Hope this helps somehow. |

Awwww...thanks guys!
I'm worried about tempering my bubbly, American enthusiasm (which is a bit over the top - even by Yankee standards), so lagom it will be. FishTank - Thanks for the fantastic pointers! I have a feeling this thread will be open during the interview. Please try not to make me laugh. ![]() |

Good luck! I can't really give advice but my guess would be don't come over as cocky, Swedes hate that. Tell them what you can offer but bragging is terribly poor form over here.

Thanks, Humpers.
As you can imagine, I am really hoping this guy doesn't make me laugh. Can you just imagine how he would react to my, "GAUFAWWWWWW HEE HEE HEE!" |

Oviously a lot depends on the individual company - but generally Swedish companies seem to like "team players" with strong inter-personal and social skills. The type of "macho/tough guy" business style does not usually go down so well.
