She's just a whiny right-winger to me, has she done something particularly bad lately?

and this is her being nice.

Since watching American news it amazes me that she has been able to get air time on TV with her views, not only is she racist, bigoted and rude...BUT she is a complete pain in the ring!

AND WITH ALL THAT SHE HAS SAID RECENTLY, she's FU-C-KED!

my mothers old saying comes to mind, give enough rope!

She really is a vile little guttersnipe.

She's like that spiteful girl you had in class at school who'd do ANYTHING to get ahead with the boys.

The planet/society has no need of her.

It doesn't appear from your posts are you aren't familiar with Coulter.

She certainly is an incredible pain in leftists agenda.

Mainly so, because leftists have no one close to her intellectually that disagree with her (the left works with emotions not intellect). While her biting sarcasm is not everyone's cup of tea, she does it deftly and with surgical precision.

So be angry, outraged and prattle on with hate. Emotions is the domain of her destractors. But she works on an high intellectual plain, and expect to be frustrated

 .

Does anyone need more evidence than the following post? Accusations, name calling, advocation of violence, but no intellectual arguements, no logic, and no evidence.

Something Different, you pretty much sum her up, especially about the "surgical precision" part. There is not a politically correct cell in her incredibly skinny body, and she fine tunes her speeches to deliberately rile people up, even her supporters. Sells more books that way!

The main problem I have with American politics is that it is all a bit playground, and both sides seem to see in black and white all the time. When you have people like Ann Coulter held up as pinnacles of intellectual debate, or books called things like "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them," it does make you wonder whether there's anyone capable of serious political discussion in mainstream US media.

The UK starts heading that way at election times but thankfully hasn't quite descended that far yet.

Posted by: Craptastical 6.Mar.2007, 06:49 PM

I don't think Ann Coulter is held up as a pinnacle of intellectual debate.
She's more like a train wreck... can't...look...away.

WRT anyone being capable serious political discussion within the US media, I'm sure that there are plenty of capable people (some who are on TV already), but that probably wouldn't pay the bills so they have to "play" the role of neocon or commie-pinko in order to grab viewers.

All IMHO, of course.

That's because the Democrats have no ideas of their own. Their only policy is to oppose Republicans.

There was interesting event recently proving this point, but I'm sorry I don't remember the details. Basically, there was a Republican trying to pass a Democrat's bill, and the Dems instantly started foaming at the mouth, trying to beat down the bill, when it was in fact their own bill.

No, it has nothing to do with policies. It has to do with the fact that the political 'comment' we see from people like Ann Coulter or Michael Moore never gets intellectual enough to talk about policies. It's like reading Littlejohn (probably the UK's most dumbed down political commentator).

The only genuinely funny and bright American politico I've ever read is PJ O'Rourke. Tell me there are more.

Haha! Go on then Alice darling, recommend me someone to go and read. Despite what you may have been led to believe whilst growing up, America is not actually the most interesting and important nation in the world for absolutey ALL of its inhabitants, and not everything inside America makes it out. I, like Americans, am limited by what I see in our own media (fortunately though I am from Europe where we at least are aware of there being a world outside our borders, hence I know a few American commentators).¨

If you need help with difficult stuff like working the quote function, I'll happily give you some pointers in return for you recommendations

Here's one you might want to read if you have the patience to read someone who does not as you say 'dumb things down': Thomas Friedman.

Oh and VHW, I did not claim the US was the most important/interesting place, but I will defend her against people with your ignorance levels. The last person we need talking for politics in the US is a cockney tart with too much time on her hands. Stick to what you know which is having pints, getting drunk, being hungover and overcooking food.

I not everyone.

While I sometimes think she could be more restrained, I respect her ability and tenacity. When she says or writes something, it is supported by research and verifiable. She apparently was paying attention in debate class while her oppenents were otherwise occupied on the playground calling eachother names and bullying others.

And she will not be bullied.
