Hello All,

I move to Malmo in 3 weeks with my fiancee and young daughter (20 months) and have been using the older posts these forums alotg to help with the planning (thanks!). If there's one thing I've been told at every stage it is that my partner will struggle to find a job without speaking Swedish.

I recently saw an article which seemed to say that my she would be able to go on maternity leave to use up the difference between the leave she claimed in the UK (6 months) and the leave she would have been entitled to in Sweden (420 days).

Does anyone know if this is true? Will this sort of thing get picked up when we apply for our ID numbers or will we need to go through an application procedure?

Thanks for any help

Whatever happens you need to actively apply for maternal/paternal pay.
