duncs - you've said some good stuff there, with plenty to discuss further. Sweden, like many other countries, need to continually update their thinking. As you say, the world keeps changing. Imo, there needs to be more debate in Sweden about nationalisation/privatisation. There are substantial benefits and drawbacks to both. Balance is required, and I appreciate it's never easy to find the right balance. But. We can try. The Alliance, however, are not trying hard enough. Infact, they're screwing up. Examples include SJ, Vattenfall, and now Saab. These are major errors of judgement. And they need calling on them. |

Hi 007 It's true what you and Fishtank said. The Local owes something to a number of people who helped to make this site what it is today ... What will it be like tomorrow? Well, that rather depends. |

Hello Lost I see you joined in 2004 ... one of the real pioneers ... Would love to talk more now, but must dash. I will verily return, though, to provide answers to the questions you have posed ... Have a fab weekend! |

Puffin, my sweet, predictability is a spice which should not be used too fervently ... Let's go! I was looking forward to more opportunities and more choices ... and unfortunately for Sweden, in my opinion, we are currently not heading in that direction. When you add to that the biggest financial crisis that the world has possibly ever seen, then you need to take stock and re-evaluate what life is all about. We are more than just money and economics. Have a great weekend! |

It was the right move to look for change after Göran Persson, and a few mistakes can be tolerated, but now Freddie, you're taking things way too far. It's time to take stock. Breathe. See where we are. Sweden has much to be proud of over the last 60+ years, and it's time this was recognised. To throw all of this good work away in just a few years, seems short-sighted in the extreme. Stop! Breathe. Let's take some time out, and see exactly where it is we want to be heading, because it's important, and will affect your future, your children's future, and the future of your friends and neighbours, and your friends' and neighbours' children's future ... Erm, yes, I think you get the point. ![]() This is Alfredo - I'm back. |

Not cheaper in the evening.
Costs approx between 1,50 and 2,50 per kWh. Don't be fooled by the companies saying that electricity is 53 öre per unit, or whatever ... This is just a sneaky con trick, and why the konsument people haven't put a stop to this nonsense is a total mystery to me. Sack the lot of them. Anything above 1,50, in my opinion, is scandalous! |

To buy a bed where?
Ikea is the only furniture shop you need to know in Sweden, of course, but if you really do feel you ought to bounce/sleep on someone else's beds, then how about: http://www.mobeloutlet.se/default.aspx?mai...spx&cat=127 eller den här: http://www.sova.se/website1/sangar/butik/s...-sangstomme.php Sweet dreams! |

Some Friday afternoon dogs and cats philosophy for you:
What is a Cat? 1. Cats do what they want. 2. They rarely listen to you. 3. They're totally unpredictable. 4. When you want to play, they want to be alone. 5. When you want to be alone, they want to play. 6. They expect you to cater to their every whim. 7. They're moody. 8. They leave hair everywhere. CONCLUSION: They're tiny women in little fur coats. What is a Dog? 1. Dogs spend all day sprawled on the most comfortable piece of furniture in the house. 2. They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but don't hear you when you're in the same room. 3. They can look dumb and lovable all at the same time. 4. They growl when they are not happy. 5. When you want to play, they want to play. 6. When you want to be alone, they want to play. 7. They leave their toys everywhere. 8. They do disgusting things with their mouths and then try to give you a kiss. 9. They go right for your crotch as soon as they meet you. CONCLUSION: They're tiny men in little fur coats. ![]() |

For the action girl in you!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...scuba-dive.html You get to watch whales, go scuba-diving and blog about it. Have a ball for 6 months, and get paid 150000 AUD for the privilege. Should arouse plenty of local, not to say, world interest ... But, 007, you could beat 'em all! |

Loved the story:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england...don/7822924.stm ''Volunteers have to send a photograph and write about themselves, but in return they get invited to the reception.'' But, you do have be decent. Sorry, Holecutter, I think that rather leaves you not at the alter ... ![]() ![]() What I'm waiting for, though, is the Local wedding of the year ... 2009, maybe? |
