Is it possible to get anything the equivelent of nytol over here without a prescription?

I found this page on aftonbladet: http://www.aftonbladet.se/kropphalsa/article48620.ab

And I'm guessing it might be lergigan I'm looking for as thats antihistamine based which I think nytol is too. But I've looked it up on apoteket's website and it says its recept only.

I tried some of the herbal offerings before and they didn't work at all. I don't want anything thats going to knock me out, just something to help me "somna".

According to Wki the active ingredient in Nytol/benedryl is Diphenhydramine hydrochloride

This would mean that this would be called Desentol according to FASS (drug information)

However most forms of strong antihistamines such as these are almost allways prescriptions only in Sweden as there is a much more restrictive attitude to over the counter medication here.

There are som non prescription ones - usually herbal

You could also look around the hay-fever and allergy non prescription medications as these often have antihistamines - but often quite weak

However if you want something stronger you should contact your doctor - when I had a sleeping problem I got Stilnoct on prescription - these are excellent as they only work for 4-6 hours so you get to sleep - but don't wake up with a fuzzy head
