Depends on where you are. I've seen small containers of it at the English Shop, which has locations in Göteborg and Stockholm.

You can even order it online from their website.

Don't use it as a lubricant, and it can catch on fire if you are not watching. This PSA was brought to you by Shark.

depending on what you are making, you can buy ister- it's lard, and is quite okay for a lot of baked goods. Or you can also buy kokosfett- that is pure cocoanut fat, derived from the cocoanut milk.

I just found it for quite a bit cheaper at Gray's All-American Store:

The demand is quite low, hence small volumes and a high price...
Also, VAT and recycling fees adds to the price.

Shortening is another word for matfett

If you are wanting to use it to make pastry etc then you just buy a block of vegetable baking fat from the supermarket (in the fridge by the butter) and cut it into small blocks and rub it into the flour or alternatively grate it in. You can also use baking margarine the same way.

Try Craigslist. He's a regular poster there, so I am told, in the San Francisco section. Goes by the name of Frisco Crisco and lives in the Castro district...again, so I'm told.

EU - you pay for food you get food
North American - you pay for food and you get modified genes, additives, preservatives + you need to buy Vitamin Supplement to fulfill the demand of human body
