Excellent list. So many of the named added such great life to The Local. I do wish they would return.

I would add:

Sgt o' Stockholm
Gorgall

I will forever have a hole in my heart after losing Hawk, though.

yeah, i thought of sgt of stockholm though he never did post often enough (and i'd still love that tour of stockholm with the symbols of whatever it was now escaping me)

gorgal was before my time and of course the sorrow of having lost hawk.

what i miss was not so much the liveliness but some sort of thought behind posts and threads and not just sweden or muslim bashing.

on that note, i'm grateful for posters like
puffin
mzungzu (sp?)
roch
VHW
kang
dock
trow
holey (well, for the entertainment factor)
jason
crappy
(again, the list is by no means exhaustive)

Nope. Gorgall was in your time. A delightful gentleman and a wicked metatroll.

I wish Snoopy! would post more often. I miss his pictures.

This site today is like self masturbation, never really satisfying. The more you thrash the less you get a result, and as a result, the material gets more extreme.

Now back then it was more like a marriage of minds, a love hate relationship between the parties. However, if the site does not allow good verbal intercourse with a few kinks and frills thrown in, then you will have a divorce.

Interesting thread.

It raises more questions about the nature of the internet discussion groups rather than apparent individuals, though.

Given the verbal given and take, and the individuals allegedly responsible for them, I am not quite sure who is who, given the extensive use of site names.

While there are a few well-known ones, and they generally give good vibes, I am not exactly sure what they are really like, and if I would really miss them if they stopped posting, especially since they could then be popping up in another guise.

Then there are all kinds of posters who come and go without my even noticing. I was reminded to this just today when I discovered that Stuck in Sweden is still with us - who I had assumed had left us awhile ago.

It all goes to show that there is just too much deliquent-behavior - for want of a better word - in this posting for me to be sure about who a poster really is, and to have really any feelings if they apparently go or stay. It's a kind of nether world.

I'm so happy that you gave me a special mention biggrin.gif

I'm always around, just don't bother to post much, but you do give me the motivation to type on the odd occasion laugh.gif

I must say I miss cyberfluff/melanie. I do wonder how she is going in Sweden. She got driven off this site not relatively long after she made the move across the pond, if I recall correctly sad.gif

You are quite right, Anti-jante, to mention the status of melanie.

I remember wishing her happy holidays when I first arrived. Then she appeared on occasion after that, complaining about matters which I did not understand. Then she simply disappeared.

And then there is evakaram. Recall she posted something about a month ago, but she now seems to be among the missing.

As for you, we should be so lucky.

Now-now, Trow. Season of goodwill, and all that.
No need for such cantankerousness.

Thanks 007 for adding me to your list. I'm around and read most days, but have had my hands full doing my day to day work and also helping the wife to start her nail salon and training business. It's been a major challenge and so far, I can't see how anyone makes beyond a subsistence salary at this.

As she's a specialist in nail art, we're trying different approaches and one of these to to take our own fashion photographs. We've been lucky to have these published in the the professional nail mags here and internationally, and won a few front covers. Her recognition is now quite high here, but this has not translated into demand for the training courses - despite the fact that her standard of education and skill is unique here, and nail mag editors contact us now for her photo's. Compared to Ukraine where nail techs do want to be continually educated - that's been something of a shock.

Another surprise has been that journo's from the womens magazines appear to also have closed minds. We've issued press releases that are pretty much ready-made articles with very good photo's and these have been ignored.

In contrast, the wife recently attended a beauty show in Stockholm as an exhibitor and had three days of people queuing to have their nails decorated. She had to turn people away due to lack of time. So there appears to be public interest at least.

We have a few more ideas and will try these next year. If we don't see signs of success within 6 months, we'll review our options and may decide to leave Sweden.

Anyway, best wishes to you and the other posters for a healthy, happy and successful 2009!

Cheesy
