Is the country making the right choice?

I'd rather be in Sweden...

Sure, there are enough places doing worse than Sweden. I am in Sweden - where are you?
Here is a list of countries with numbers.

Anguilla: 3 infections, 0 deaths, too bad the table doesn't say since when and to what extent they do testing.^^

The discussion about "death with or of" Sars Cov-2 is a bit of an idle one.People don't die of a virus, they die of the body reaction to that virus. That's w ... (show full quote)

Sorry but no the only way to measure the effect of CV19 is to look at deaths vs average deaths over the last x amount of years. By looking at this data you can easily see which countries are have been in control of who has died over and above the norm this year. ALL these deaths can be attributed to either the virus or effect of lockdown (this is where the debate is).

I will AGAIN post a link as to where you can see this...

https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/20...cross-countries updated as at 13th of JUne

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04...ing-deaths.html updated June 23rd

In both reports it is super super clear that several countries:

Economist:
Britain, Spain, Italy, New York city, Netherlands, Jakarta, Istanbul and Austria

NY Times
US, Spain, Italy, UK, Mexico City, UK, Peru, Equador, Netherlands, France

have not been in control in knowing who has died during the period (Sweden reports more deaths than actual deaths in the economist and in NYT numbers they can not account for c.500 at the time of publication).

Again I find it disgusting and disturbing that any country is unable to account for the death of another human however it is understandable to a degree for some of the countries mentioned due to the mayhem that they suffered in their healthcare systems...

It doesn't change the fact that for example in Italy (using NYT data) 14,7k humans died above the norm and that are not assigned to cv19 during the height of their crisis. Were these 14,7k the cost of lockdown / were they undiagnosed cv19 ... who cares why they died - the fact is they died during the crisis and lockdown - this missing deaths needs to be recognised, analysed and understood before lockdowns are enforced again

On a morbid note and something undocumented, I post the following, with a caveat...

It could happen...

I read somewhere(?)that the reimbursement for respirator cost was an incentive for hospitals to use them as a means of income enhancement, if it was virus related, to place patients on respirators even though their death rate on them approached 90%

Do you think that virus diagnosis could be used to increase payments and therefore increasing the number of virus cases claimed???

Got this today also from several german news sites.

And he is right of course. The correlation between testing more and more cases is so simple, my 6 year old flatmate tells me the effect, but the WHO totally misinterprets the cause for more cases. And obviously they don't even want to know that a case does not mean someone is ill. - We carry thousands of viruses with us but only get ill from time to time.

So what are we talking about here?
Nothing but the biggest political hoax of all times. (Washington Times)
"The facts are this: COVID-19 is a real disease that sickens some, proves fatal to others, mostly the elderly ? and does nothing to the vast majority. [...] That, in a nutshell, is it."

Exceptional Sweden wants its cake and eat it too.

While Sweden endeavours to allow corona to spread as much as possible, it also feels entitled to be able to enjoy all the benefits of other countries, who have managed the spread quite well, and are thereby "opening-up".

But the WHO just put Sweden on a list of countries where the spread is seen to continue to increase, ""accelerated transmission has led to very significant resurgence that if left unchecked will push health systems to the brink once again"".

Such other notable countries Sweden now compares with, in being excluded from the party, are: Moldova, North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine, Kosovo, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Central Asian states of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

Nice work Sweden! Lookin good! laugh.gif

But seriously, it just ain't easy being so exceptional! We feel for you Sweden!

Or maybe NYT sums it up just about right: "Sweden is a sort of regional hegemon, and, its critics say, given to a certain arrogance and exceptionalism that can be grating."

If Sweden was a company, it would now have inflicted serious damage to its brand.

Now it seems that even FHM's recommendations are being ignored. Why, for example, if they can shut down restaurants for not observing distancing rules, are train companies allowed to get away with it?

The message from the Swedish health authority has never been clearly stated. Some parts yes, but mostly the message is fuzzy, and lacking consistency.

Yes, damage to the brand, the only thing Sweden ever had going for it.

Cracks are showing.

They took a close up of the virus, wrote some sensational words about what every virus already does, spread within the body... and thusly propagated fear.

What a useless article. Hopefully Bill Hicks? prediction comes true for LA
