After applying for a work permit on December 2, my employer just notified me that we have been assigned a case officer! Normally good news, but when my employer attempted to check in with the case officer, they got an out-of-office email saying the person will be on vacation until February 29! Such a bummer. My employer is going to attempt to contact the supervisor and see if there's anything we can do.

I guess hoping to fall within the 2-month estimate is a bit unrealistic at this point, but I'm still trying to remain upbeat!

Nice. Happy for you. Could you please clarify if it was new permit or renewal? Thanks.

I don't want to scare people, but I called Migrationsverket with an inquiry today, and also asked them what current waiting times for work permits are. They said expect 3-4 months... "and be pleasantly surprised if it takes less time than that."

I figured since I literally asked them this today that people may be interested in knowing what their current answer is. He said the website information is out of date.

Thanks for sharing the info.

I would appreciated if you answered the following questions, so I could add you to the spreadsheet:

-- Application date
-- Was it new work permit or an extension
-- Your nationality (optional)
-- Decision received date or none
-- Any comments you would like to add

Sorry, I actually haven't applied yet. While I'm expecting a job offer in a few days, it may be easier for me to go to sweden on a different visa type so I'm weighing my options at the moment.

Hey @Alex29, it was a new application. I was really impressed because some folks were telling about 3-4 months and hopefully I got mine in only 2,5 weeks. I hope it will start getting faster now for everyone!

I'm glad they gave you a straight answer. I'm about five months in and was wondering what the holdup was, since the website still says two months..so hopefully they'll get to mine sometime soon..

-- I had an existing spouse of student permit, so I wasn't eligible for fast track as it was a "change of status", but it still seems ridiculous. I will note that I am still able to work while the application is pending

I got the same answer today over the telephone. What a disappointment!

All I know is that I now have a case officer. Has anyone else been assigned one yet? He told my employer the wait time is 2-3 months, which should mean any day now for me...
