I doubt if you will find any Indian or Chinese food store. Swedes are inherently not open to other people and cultures.

Yes I have been to Umea. I live in Stockholm and can't wait to get the hell out of here. Of course, Sweden is a paradise for narrow minded expats like you :-)

My advice is fine. It starts with "I doubt it...".

first of all I LOVE UMEA... being a kiwi, and have lived in london for past 7 1/2 years the QUALITY OF LIFE here, from day to day, less stress etc is far better than london.. london eventually wears you down... I have found everyone here so far to be really friendly and helpful and even when i ask random people in shops where somegthing is or can they order this or that they have been super!
I imagine stockholm to be similar to london in pace and lifestyle.. but i also think that life and where and how you live it is what you make it. maybe atibs you need to get a hobby... maybe some theraputic knitting... you sound like you might have some issues laugh.gif also you dont say where you are from!!!

My pleasure Atibs, please send 200kr, (am also looking for work!) to put towards my " helping bridge cultural diversity in Sweden" hehe

Maybe you should move to Umea as it sounds like stockholm is getting you down... biggrin.gif

There is an asian food store right outside ICA at Ålidhem. There is a bigger and better one at the Renmarkstorget bus stop (downtown). It's called 'Spicy'. You can't miss it.

There is a thai grocery store at Mariehem Centrum. It opened recently and though somewhat limited in their stocks, it's not too bad.

Hope this helps. Welcome to Umeå.
