Btw, I learned French before I learned Spanish, so I used to convert words from French into Spanish. You should have seen teh horrified baker's face when I asked for a piece of gato.

Well, I really wanted cake, but couldn't remember the word "pastel", so I converted the French.

Even worse is the ad in Chile for the lottery. There, unlike in Spain, they call buying a lottery ticket "sacarse la polla". One year, they had the proceeds go to homeless children. So they posted the slogan: Sacate la polla y haz feliz a un niño.

Well, la polla is a specifically male part. Sacate means approximately pull it out. Haz feliz a un niño means make a little boy happy.

Well..I can't say the word KORT (as in busskort) or any kind of kort because many years ago when I was an exchange student, my host brother had just had his haircut and I tried to say in Swedish something like "you have it really short at the back" and when he and my host-sister cracked up laughing..after about 5 minutes when they were able to breathe again they were able to answer my "What is so funny question". I had apparently said "You have it really HORNY at the back"...well..I just about go beetroot every time I have to put more money on my bussKORT or can I have a look at the KORT from so and so..AAARRGGGH

So you said the word "KÅT" instead of "KORT {KÅRT}"... I think they were very rude to you. Many people in sweden are "Kåt i baken"...

You should have seen the smile on the baker's face when I asked her for a piece of pussy.

SLUT REA!

I nearly died when I saw this pasted all over the ladies boutiques when I first arrived here.
Sure; the clothes that the women wear over here can make them look cheap and all, but I didn't realise they were also getting them cheap!!

You know of course that it doesn't mean the same thing in the English language.

In English ... it's FART FINDER.
