To put it short, no. The sum is too small.

My brother in law is a tax accountant and on a trip to New York together last year he bought a pair of sunglasses for something like $75.
On the way back through the airport back in the UK he walked up to customs to declare it and pay the appropriate import tax. I thought he was bonkers but it could have cost him his job not to declare it properly. So in answer to the question technically yes there probably is some tax owed, in reality unless someone asks you for it i don't think you need to volunteer as above the amount is too low. |

I don't understand. If he buy it for his own use then why would he have to pay import taxes? |

You always pay VAT on goods delivered from outside of the EU, no matter the value. The post office automatically add VAT and administration fee. Import duties are however only levied on packages that are worth more than 1500SEK.
If you bought items on a trip (from outside EU) you only need to pay VAT/duties if the total value is more than 4300SEK. This is however rarely checked since it is generally impossible for the customs to prove that you bought something abroad, unless you are stupid enough bring the item in its original package. |

Thank you for help.
Using your link, I've found this file: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/sites...ying_online.pdf If I understand right, threshold is 300 SEK (corresponds to € 20). And if there will be case when I have to pay VAT, then the postal service will charge me whem I will receive a package. 300 SEK per one package? what if I'll buy one 200 sek package per week, it's 800 sek per month or 11k sek a year. in this case should I pay VAT? |

If you owe tax, and they notice (not always the case), you'll get a bill that just has to be paid before the package is released. Otherwise, don't bother. |
