The impossible made possible

I've found a permanent job

I have not felt this satisfied in a long time. Today I found out I was offered a permanent position as a pre-school teacher in Östermalm. While it's not exactly my dream job, it commands a respectable salary and lots of perks, and also job security.

As some of you know, I've been working as an au pair since I first came to Sweden a year and a half ago. Since I had a "job" I didn't really try too hard in finding a new one. However, the growing stress of working with the family whom employs me, coupled with me wanting to live with my boyfriend drove me to put in my notice (my last day with the family is July 3rd). At first I was really stressed out at the possibility of not having an income in Sweden, however after applying to a couple positions I was offered temp work at as a journalist over the Summer, which is awesome.

I still thought though that I needed the security of a permanent job, and randomly I got an email from the principal of the school which just hired me (I had applied for a position there back in March). I had an interview with her last week, and today she called to tell me that I got the position.

So basically, I applied for maybe 10 jobs, interviewed for only one, and came away with one full-time position and one part-time position for the Summer. I guess it's not so hard to find a job here after all. And I'm going to be really honest, I didn't really try that hard—and probably could have made more of an effort. wink.gif

For everyone out there still looking, don't give up, it's not impossible.
