No, but I think it's a bit fascist to say that you can only choose between motherhood and a working life. Bollocks in fact.

QUOTE (Streja)
I think it should be allowed to have babies and work as well. I mean children learn a lot from having strong working mothers. Mums who stay at home their entire life do not make good role models.

I beg to differ. In my humble opinion there are homemaker moms who can be great role models and working moms who can be bad role models and vice versa.
It is more about the individual person as compared to who is baking more cookies or who can afford best day care.

This is a wise and valid point.

By the way, I've noticed in my local area here in Sweden, the ratio of girls to guys is something crazy like 4:1.

If you lived in a part of Sweden, where the ratio of girls to guys is 4:1 and you were a guy; would you dare divulge this location to anyone?

Arrrrrrrgh what utter toss! Where do they find these penny writers? She's far too good to end up having kids with Mr Only OK but Mr Not Really Up For It With Her is considered a man-boy for his opinions and expected to fall in line with her desire to settle down and spawn..

laugh.gif Yepp... I was thinking the same...

It's not a 'choice' thing, it's just easier to do one or the other, and most of modern society is about taking the path of least resistance. i.e. one, or the other.

Not saying it's universal, just a general trend.

Lots of people manage both. Lots of people decide one way or the other.

I do both and it is a hard balance to gain. It is a four ring circus act where some rings are always in the air.
As women we are quick to jump on to other women but to be fair, it is not perfect either way. Women should have freedom to work while parenting and freedom to choose between family and work if they want to. No need to go into different camps. Do what suits you well and let other woman make her choice. Women who are always putting other women down are not great role models either.

What's your opinion on having a father at home, and full-time working mother?
