Hello everyone,
I have applied for a Swedish citizenship (based on marriage if it matters), about a week ago.
I have already recieved my passport back, saying that they don't need it anymore and the initial overview of my case is done and that it doesn't influence my place in a queue.

Anyone has experience like that, I mean does it mean that my application is in a "long queue" now?

I applied two weeks ago and they sent my passport back last week too. This was unexpected since I did not ask it back...

They might change the procedure: Instead of keeping passports, they might decide to check them and send back as soon as possible.

Have you got any news?

They might change the procedure: Instead of keeping passports, they might decide to check them and send back as soon as possible.

I was thinking about same thing, always wondered why would they need our passports back again since they have seen it and can make a decision based on that.
I have no news, some people on another forum said that it means that we are gonna wait long time if they've sent a passport directly and placed us in a long queue. But who knows...

Waiting times are up to 20 months. You've waited for 1, so somewhere between 1 day and 19 months.

To be fair, you said you applied 12-2-2016 which is a pretty ambiguous date format, is that 12th February 2016 or 2nd December 2016.. This is why ISO8601 is a thing.

I am still waiting and it will be 11 months next Sunday. Will check in on the 12 month mark but not sure if doing that will help.

Any experience with calling in to Migrationsverket helping in getting updates ?

i have been waiting for more than 13 monthes now and a month ago i e-mailed Migrationsverket about my case and came to know i dont have any case officer assigned yet.

I requested my passport back which I got with a letter mentioning that they have examined it and that they do not need my passport back and therefor I should not send it.

Does this means that until I get a decision they will not ask it back or that they will ask when a case officer will be apointed (i suppose it hasent already)? Anybody else had a similar mail when they asked for their passports?

I applied 9 months ago and I have not gotten an answer yet.

My application was sent complete (I can tell) and I've lived in Sweden for 6 years now. I was granted PUT after two years, and now I hope to get the citizenship before Sweden Democrats become the second largest party in 2018 and they make it harder.

Well it is the same letter as I recieved, probably everyone receives similar letter starting from 2017.
I have asked a question online at MV website whether I need ever send my passport back and the answer was : " We will ask your passport back when we will need to make a decision".

I think everyone request their passport back get it with the same letter. But, the new thing here is people who applied and MV sent their passports back to them although they DID NOT ask their passports back.

Not actually. They just wrote that they have already examined it and they will not need it anymore, mentioning that I should not send it back. They didnt mention anything about asking it later, but that doesnt mean that they wont ask it again I guess.

Makes sense this way.. From what I understood, when they ask it back they ask to be sent within two weeks. What happens if when you will get the letter you are away for vacations and cannot send it within two weeks? Or if the letter from them get lost.. Are they gonna send a reminder or they will make a decision without the passport?
