Is daycare good for kids?

In my opinion its awful that people have children then throw them into the nearest virus infested dagis before they can walk. What happened to the days when mothers stayed home with their kids? Maybe a bigger house and newer car are more important than a childs upbringing.

It's funny that men always are getting blamed for it, and then we constantly hear about reports about how some women aren't willing to let go. So sometimes it seems to be a no win situation for us laugh.gif

Some men on this forum are determined to come off as sad, pathetic, old-fashioned and boring old farts.

Some kids need dagis. Some don't.

There is a direct correlation between day care and violent behavior. The sooner kids go to day care, the higher their tendency for violent behavior. Day care is where you send your kids to learn to, hit, bite, misbehave, and get sick.

and if it's not the men, then it's the swedish men, or the swedish women, or the non-christians --male and female--or wait, it's socialism...no it's europeanism --no, it's selfishness...

OK..it's the troll that started the thread laugh.gif

If you read more closely the attack was on the women in the first post, not the men. I think it's good that so many men in Sweden are taking their responsibility and I love seeing those men walking around with their kids in prams. It makes me smile. Let's face it...kids need fathers.

Ian, when my husband and I had our first child (we have 3 now), we decided then that I would stay home with them. They do go to preschool a couple hours a day, a couple days a week once they are 3 or 4, but they have'nt been in day care. We have never regreted this decision. I personally wouldn't have had them if I myself couldn't be their mom full time. Yes, we have made some sacrifices financially, but thankfully, my husband makes a very good living, and I haven't made the sacrifices some people make to stay home with their children, I have to admit. Anyway, I think it's been great for them. My youngest will start preschool next fall, and I will probably work part ime then, but we'll see. Anyway, I am not trying to judge those who use daycare, simply because it is not my place to judge their decisions. I just know that this was the best choice for us, and I don't see myself regretting it. We figure, they are only little once, you never get that time back, and the first several years are so ctitical in their development. We do use our sitter (who is wonderful) sometimes. And it saddens me to say that I have friends and even family who stick their kids in daycare, just so they can have the biggest house, the best cars...I have my whole life to go back to work.

I'd say a majority of Swedes have been to dagis and I don't see much violent behaviour from most Swedes.

oops hope my topic isn't upsetting anyone tongue.gif . By the way why have women started to feel the career urge in the last 20 years. Women have taken care of their kids since the beginning of time.
