9 pages of this twaddle? . Look it's simple - it's a form of tax whether you use it or not. Like many other taxes that take money for services that not everyone uses.

That's not true, for example, people who do not own and drive a car don't have to pay road tax.

Imagine if they changed the rule for road tax so that anybody with a driveway had to pay, regardless if they had a car or not. And then imagine if people annoyed at this rule erected a brick wall in front of their driveway and planted a large tree in the middle of the driveway, and the government said, "well, technically it's still a driveway according to our strict interpretation of the law, so you are still going to pay road tax." That's what they've done with the TV license.

I pay taxes for schools, and many other things even for roads, i do not use them. Put it on the tax or have adverts as SVT mainly shows the BBC or Danish and Norwegian programmes which are good. The rest is trash especially SVT24 which are just repeats as are all the other channels

First, it is a charge not a tax, the difference is in how the monies are used. Charge means they must be used for the specific purpose that is defined for the reason of the charge, a tax can be used for anything the collector wants.

Second. It is similar to road tax ...if you do not have the devices that meet the definition in law you do not need to pay the TV license. Alternatively, if you have something that meets the definition in law of something that is covered by road tax (whether it is a "car" or not) you will have to pay road tax wink.gif

So, license fee as in public service...

Wonder if it's even possible to exclude yourself from such services. Since other forms of public service sure can allow that to happen. Using public toilet, pay 5-10 kr, you use it you pay. On highways, there are toll stations. If you don't own a car or never drive on those roads, don't have to pay. Public transport, you pay only your ticket when you take the ride.

But the TV-license fee is making itself an exception. It claims to be some kind of public service supported collectively by the people. Yet it is almost impossible to exclude oneself from the service and avoid paying for something you never need. The price will be to live without computer, smartphone and internet. In some sense, it's a forced service. It's a very big flaw in their logic, and therefore the public service argument is not very solid.

Of course you pay road tax as long as you own a car. But the logic of TV-license is not the same as to road tax. It should be similar to highway toll. If you live in Lund, I make you pay full-time for the toll road in Kiruna, just because it's possible that you drive to Kiruna. And I completely disregard the fact you never drive outside Skåne. Would you prefer that, or would you rather pay at a toll station outside Kiruna when you get there?
