The Local _ Studying _ Merit Rating 2016 - Sweden MS Applicants

Posted by: jaduka1 8.Feb.2016, 03:54 PM

Hello / Hall? ,

Let's discuss here regarding the applications process and admission.
Where you applied to? Have you received any rating?

My current application status:
1. Chalmers - In progress
2. KTH Royal - In progress
3. Dalarna - Qualified (Akademiska po?ng avancerad niv? (APA)
Your ranking in this selection group is: 180 of a maximum (285))
4. Uppsala - In progress

I have also applied for Swedish institute Scholarship and competing in 2nd group in 2nd stage.

Let's here from all of you applicants, and wait together.

Posted by: jaduka2 8.Feb.2016, 04:51 PM

Not bad.
I also applied for Master's studies. I got MR of 180,0 out of 999,9 at Orebro for IT and Robotics. So I guess, we are on the same boat.
But I can't make sense out of it.

Posted by: Lucas83 8.Feb.2016, 07:37 PM

Hey guys. Dalarn was fast.

My current applicantion status:
1. Malm

Posted by: ada 10.Feb.2016, 09:54 AM

Hi everyone,

I applied for Information Technology and Learning - Gothenburg Uni and Interventions in Childhood - Jonkoping Uni. Both are still in progress. Fingers crossed smile.gif

Posted by: Student123 10.Feb.2016, 09:57 AM

Hej Guys,

In applied on January 2016 and have yet to receive any ratings.
I applied to
1.Gothenburg IN progress
2.Karlstad IN progress
3.Linnaeus IN progress
4.Linkoping IN progress
i have also applied to the SI scholarship and am in the second round Category 1.

Posted by: salazaar 10.Feb.2016, 11:36 PM

Hey guys!

These are my choices:

1. Industrial Management, KTH - In Progress
2. Production Engineering and Management, KTH - In Progress
3. Industrial Management, Uppsala - In Progress
4. Integrated Product Design, KTH - In Progress

Those merit ratings appear to be really mind-boggling... I wonder when we'll get notified about the (un)qualified status...

I have also checked the admission statistics from last year (http://statistik.uhr.se/) and I was just stunned.. For my first choice there were 527 applicants and they only accepted 23, for second choice 67 out of 433.. This seems to be the case with most programmes, but surprisingly as I read posts on the Internet I didn't get the impression that it is very hard to get admitted... huh.gif

Good luck and keep us updated! smile.gif

I got Inget urval (PGIU) 999/999 from Stockholm university. Inget urval -> No selection. Not sure if I should be happy or upset. huh.gif

Posted by: Student123 11.Feb.2016, 10:03 AM

Dear Sleepless, Can you tell us about what Unis and Programs you applied to? and more info about your ratings? It'd be helpful. I wanted to apply to Stockholm Business School but as i dont have GMAT i made gothenburg my first choice (which i doubt i will get in to with out GMAT event with a CGPA of 3.84 out of a possible 4.00).

Dear Salazaar, from where did you find the stats?

And hopefully once we are all done with the SI application we can create a new discussion for the scholarship too and share more about ourselves?

Posted by: sleepless 11.Feb.2016, 10:27 AM

@Student123: I only applied to IT Management and Open eGov. program at Stockholm university. I have not applied anywhere else.

Posted by: jaduka2 11.Feb.2016, 11:04 AM

Anyone else who applied for masters studies at Orebro?

Share your statuses please.

@Student 123, here is the link to statistics regarding admissions from the last years. It's in Swedish but it's easy to deduce the key information. http://statistik.uhr.se/

I think you should definitely be happy smile.gif you've got the maximum MR and here is what they say about it on the Stockholms Universitet page:

Inget urval

Om utbildningen inte har n?got urval f?r alla, som ?r beh?riga och har anm?lt sig i tid, plats p? utbildningen.

From my understanding (Google translate, that is biggrin.gif ) it means that no selection is needed and everyone who applied on time will get a place. Congrats!

Pick MasterHT15 and your university, then you'll the results for various programs. Basic google translate and you'll know everything wink.gif

Hej hej to all the other stressed out souls wanting to end up in Sweden !
I applied to Chalmers, Lund, KTH and Umea and everything is still "in progress".

I just got an email from KTH saying the process might take time so that some of us won't have any status modification until the last week before the final results.

I think we should not be scared neither over the number of applicants (think of the ones who don't care as much as we do, who don't have their english results on time, who won't fulfill all the requirements in the end) nor on the number of points we have for each master (because in the end it all depends on the level of the other applicants and you can be admitted with 300/999 or not admitted with an apparently good 850).

Let's stay strong, we'll make it smile.gif

Also last year and the year before KTH issued most MRs in late March, so I guess we'll just have to wait. Did you write an e-mail to KTH asking about this or did they mail you on their own?

EDIT: I also got and e-mail from them.

You're probably right, reading threads from previous years I deducted that most of the applicants from uhr.se simply didn't complete their applications, it takes only 5 min so they didn't care - that's why the number is very high. Swedish universities don't usually reject people if they meet the requirements, instead they place them as reserve. So I think we should care more about the number of reserves (qualified but rejected) than total number of applicants. And in the end, most of the people on this forum got admitted to their first choices, so that's a very positive sign! smile.gif

Exactly ! That's actually something that helped me to rank my choices. The master I originally wanted to put first had 68 people on the reserve list (or something like that). Well I put it second choice and I think it has been a good idea.

Also : do you think universities know about how we ranked their programmes ? I mean, if it is the case, we don't have 4 "real chances" as universities are more likely to turn us down if we ranked their programme 3rd or 4th, compared to someone who put it first. What do you think ?

Hmm hard to say... But on some summary sheets for KTH there was a field: "At universityadmissions.se, I ranked this program as my priority number: ..." Maybe they will give you slightly higher MR if they're the 1st choice because then they know you REALLY want to study that program.

But I don't think that we only have 1 real chance. For most programs there are more applicants who ranked it no 1 than available places, so nobody else would stand a chance, which I really doubt is true. Besides, that would be quite stupid from their viewpoint - they want the best students to attend the program, so if somebody from 2nd choice is a far better student than one from the 1st choice, then why not pick him? Maybe if the students are comparable they pick the one with higher priority... we can only guess.

Well i think the smaller the reserve list the better, because it means that only a small number of applicants actually fulfill the requirements. The one I originally thought about had more people on the reserve list than on the accepted list so even if I had the right background etc, I would have had more chance to end up on the reserve list than to be taken. The equivalent Master I put first had almost no people on the reserve list and from what I read on their website I fulfill all the requirements so I have way more chances to be accepted, even if the total number of applicants is high.
Tell me if I'm not clear haha

Mmh :/ What made me doubt about it is the guy leading the webinar of Chalmers, when he said "If you don't put us first, we likely won't give you a scholarship" . I hope you're right !

Posted by: salazaar 11.Feb.2016, 07:15 PM

Ah ok, now I understand smile.gif The scholarships is an entirely different thing, indeed some universities require their program to be no 1 to consider giving you a scholarship. But I don't think it is in any way decisive in terms of admission. So if you are from outside the EU and need a scholarship and the programs are comparable, then I think it was a good move.

Good biggrin.gif Well I'm not concerned by the scholarships but this fact just made me freak out a bit concerning the importance of the ranking order in the selection !

As one way past being involved in any of this, I can appreciate that people apply to several institutions in the hope of getting into one yet, at the same time, does it not cause problems eventually for the multifarious institutions in making their choices, and with some being actually accepted at more than one? Then the person involved has to make his or her choice, leaving one or the other of the institutions then with a vacancy which may or not be filled by another seeker.

It was simply seeing the postings here that gave rise to my 'puzzlement'.

Can anyone truly explain what the eventual outcome could be?

I am aware that you all are hoping to be accepted somewhere, and I wish you well, but it does seem somewhat complicated to the likes of me.

Posted by: salazaar 11.Feb.2016, 11:49 PM

You can only get admitted to one program. You set a priority list. If you are admitted to your first choice, the rest are deleted. If not, then you are considered for your second choice. If not admitted, then for the third. And so on smile.gif

Hello everybody, this is my first time posting here, and also the first time I apply to sweden, today I received an update on my admission status:

I'm also adding some statistical data from http://statistik.uhr.se/

1.- Chemistry - Biochemistry, Uppsala: Qualified (999/999).
Total applicants 2016: 111. Admitted 2015: 9
2.- Chemistry - Chemical Biology, Uppsala: Qualified (999/999). Total applicants 2016: 35. Admitted 2015: 3
3.- Chemistry - Bio and nano Materials, Uppsala: Qualified (999/999). Total applicants 2016: 101 Admitted 2015: 8
4.- Applied Biotechnology: In-process. Total applicants 2016: 357. Admitted 2015: 17

So, I'm joining to the waiting madness until March, and I would be happy to read your thoughts.

Posted by: Student123 12.Feb.2016, 01:35 PM

I called the University of Gothenburg and learned that if there are GMAT scores, Then they'll give priority to them. anyone here applied to any Business School with a GMAT/GRE? They also said they have 55% more applications this year.

Posted by: Student123 12.Feb.2016, 01:46 PM

And does anyone know for sure if we get only priority at our first choice? I just wanted to know if i have the same chance of being admitted at my First choice and second or third or fourth?

Hi, I think you'll be more than fine. And Uppsala is great. I was there last year smile.gif

Posted by: bangbang 12.Feb.2016, 09:02 PM

Found on a KTH student ambassador blog :

you may want to reject your first choice and HOPE that you get admitted to lower choices. You can ONLY do this if the other selections have NOT been deleted. Doing so also entails risk, as most schools, programs and courses will consider first choice applicants before second choice ones, second choice applicants before third choice ones, and so on. In other words, in rejecting your first offer, you may end up without a program or course to attend.

I guess it looks like the beginning of an answer concerning the number of number of "real chances" we have.

Posted by: Student123 12.Feb.2016, 09:11 PM

So it means we have only one chance? The program i applied to as First choice in Gothenburg I'm almost sure i wont get it cus of GMAT. I was hoping for the second one in Karlstad but as there are 30 applicants who chose Karlstad as their first choice, I doubt I'll get anything. But we will see.

Thanks bangbang!
EDIT: I just sent University Admissions an email if the fact that we selected on program above another and go this reply:

Dear Student,

Thank you for contacting us with questions regarding admission in Sweden.
Your chance of being admitted to a program, is not effect by the order you added them.

But i doubt if it's right!

Posted by: bangbang 12.Feb.2016, 09:35 PM

I really doubt it too.

I think each faculty has its own rules.
Maybe it just has a slightly influence. Looks like we can't really know !

Posted by: bangbang 12.Feb.2016, 09:59 PM

Student123 : Actually I just thought that it might not be soooo terrible, and that even though you're not taken in Gothenburg because of the GMAT you will have your chances for the other choices.
Just look at the ratings of TheAnswer (I wish this username to be accurate biggrin.gif), who got 999 out of 999 on his/her three first choices. If the order was really a matter, I think he or she would have had lower merit ratings.
Plus, only 30 people put your second choice first. Compare to the average stats of other programmes. That's really ok smile.gif

Posted by: Student123 12.Feb.2016, 10:41 PM

Dear bangbang, thank you! you showed me that there maybe some hope smile.gif I just thought maybe it wrong to choose one of the Biggest Unis with out a GMAT... Apart from that I've amazing grades, study abroad experience, Leadership skills n what not? I hope i get admitted as I'm sure I'll get the SI scholarship.
Thanks again!!

Posted by: bangbang 12.Feb.2016, 11:17 PM

You're welcome Student123 !

As long as the GMAT is not an expressively stated requirement, I think it's just one more thing that can help you, just like recommendations, experience, good grades etc etc.
If you compensate with all the things you listed, I don't see why you would have no chance.

Close. Can't wait for the results... I picked the programs solely based on content and not the city or other factors, so I'm really hoping for Linkoping.

Hello!
This year I have applied for one of the programmes in Lund University. During the last 5 years there was no people on the reserve list. You think guys it's a good sign? It may seem like they admit all of applicants who are eligible...
And I wonder how reserve list works - last year the admission points level constituted 700/999 points. Does it mean that the worst eligible person scored 700 points OR
maybe there was much more eligible people but they score less than 700 p.?

Thanks for your comments!

Swedish universities normally don't reject people if they meet the entry requirements, they put them on the reserve list instead - so I think it is a good sign, probably every qualified applicant was accepted smile.gif

The admission point shows the merit rating of the lowest-ranked admitted candidate (that year, of course). If your MR doesn't earn you a place, then you go on reserve list (with a certain place in it). If an admitted student rejects his offer, then it is offered to the first person on the reserve list. If another one resigns, then res no 2 is offered a place. And so on.

Today I got a message from KTH:

This message is for your information only:
You have been granted an exception from the general admission requirement since 1) you are registered for the last semester of a programme leading to a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent or 2) you have not yet received your degree diploma.
If admitted, you will be required to show your Bachelor's degree (complete transcript and diploma) during your study at KTH.

So kinda good news wink.gif

Posted by: Caroline 17.Feb.2016, 08:08 PM

Guys, I have one more question. I am a student in my final year of Bachelor studies. Before the end of January (deadline for submitting documents) none of my grades from winter semester 2015/2016 were registered in the system. Today I received the last grade from this semester.

The thing is that this semester I got very good grades from very important subjects and I think they could help me a lot.

I am afraid that if I will upload the new transcript of grades via University Admissions (with more good grades) I will be considered as a late applicant. However, I believe this grades would help me A LOT. I scored mostly As and Bs sad.gif

I contacted the coordinator of the programme I applied to few days ago (in a connection with my another concern) and he said I have a good chance of being accepted... Should I tell him also about this issue? My documents have not be assesed yet.

Posted by: salazaar 17.Feb.2016, 10:55 PM

Sure, ask him about that! Remember that in case of University Admissions, "better late than never" does not apply biggrin.gif

Hello. I've also applied for an MSc for Autumn 2016.

Innovation & Spatial Dynamics - Lund - In Progress

International Marketing & Brand Management - Lund - In Progress

Finance - Lund - In Progress

No other info yet. I probably check a dozen times a day.

Posted by: dsands 18.Feb.2016, 12:08 PM

I had an idea. I visited the 2015 and 2014 versions of these threads. Though this won't help us now, it would probably be helpful to future applicants to give more details about our process. I think we should detail our GPAs and any other relevant information, particularly when you post if you got accepted. For example, based on my above post, my acceptance would look as follows (note: I haven't been accepted or declined yet - this is an example format):

Undergraduate GPA: 3.31/4.00 (Finance - Boston University - USA)
GMAT/GRE: none [PUT SCORE HERE IF APPLICABLE]
CV: 8+ years managerial experience in business consulting

Innovation & Spatial Dynamics - Lund - Accepted - Merit Rating 250/400

International Marketing & Brand Management - Lund - Reserve - Merit Rating 800/999

Finance - Lund - Reserve - Merit Rating 600/999

I only add this because I think the 2014 and 2015 threads lacked this detail, and it would have been somewhat helpful to me.

Constructive suggestion, which to some extent would facilitate our self evaluation based on other's MRs and also help the future applicants for their application reference.

Exactly. I found myself going through the prior years threads and trying to match early posts where people included this information to later posts where they posted if they got accepted. I gave up in the end, it was too much.

Hi everyone,

Hope everybody will get some good luck while anxiously waiting. I wonder if anyone has any ideas whether the scholarship has any correlations with MR. I have been notified by my Admission Officer with a conditional acceptance to Karolinska Public Health Economics master. I also have my MR posted (18,00/20.00). Anyone who has some info about the scholarship, I would appreciate your willingness to share. =)

PS: For those who are applying or willing to come to Karolinska Institutet, you are more than welcome to join Karolinska 2016 facebook group. It is still very new though...

It is still very new though...

https://www.facebook.com/groups/765615913582801/

My understanding is that scholarships do not impact the process. Applying for scholarship will not hurt your chances of getting accepted. In other threads, people have stated that applying from outside the EU with the intent of paying in full for tuition might give you a better chance to be accepted, but then other people said this is not true.

Of course it's a a big black box, but I suspect that admissions are purely based on grades and related supporting documents (if applicable). GMAT/GRE can help with certain programs. Two of the three I applied to said that this exam can help increase your chance. Some programs don't care for this, though.

Bachelor in Marketing CGPA 3.84 out of a possible 4.00 (Department Medal & whole University Trophy winner)
No GMAT or GRE

More than 4000 Hrs of work Experience.. Hopefully i'll get my second or Third choices

chalmers requires at least 70% cumulative average of the maximum grade during their Bachelor's studies. so with a gpa of 2.2 it can be hard. But a buddy of mine came in previous year with a gpa of less than 70%.

Posted by: Ramshere16 20.Feb.2016, 12:12 AM

Yup 2.2 is low for any Automotive Engineering masters university. Especially English taught ones. Always had a dream and im giving it a try. Fingers crossed.

I haven't used the system but am applying next year and following this thread with interest.

Can someone tell me can you be accepted to more than 1 programme at a time or do you have to order your choices?

I am going to apply for a Msc Mathematics at Uppsala, Stockholm/KTH (joint programme), Lund, University of Gothenburg. Will I need to order them by preference or can I get accepted to all 4 and then decide? Thanks.

You can qualify for all the 4 but can be accepted to only 1. If you are accepted in any of your top priorities then the lower ones get automatically deleted. So order selection is very important.

So let me just clarify.

You choose the programs you want to apply to and order them by priority on the universityadmissions website. You can see if you are qualified for each course as they check your documents but then when it comes to admission, if your 1st priority offers you admission then the other programs you have applied to basically get put on hold and you can't see if you were also accepted onto them as well? Or is it a case where they don't actually attempt to offer you admission until they become the new 1st priority? I am basically wondering if its possible just to apply to 4 programs at 4 different Universities and then choose where to go after, or is it that you basically need to choose beforehand?

You need to choose beforehand. If you get accepted to your 1st priority, the other programs are deleted and there is no option of going back to them. However, it is possible to be put on reserve list for the 1st priority and be accepted for your 2nd choice. You then wait until the deadline for accepting offers and see if there's a place for you in the 1st program.

If the requirement was to have IELTS 6.5 and you have 6.0 then unfortunately most likely you'll be unqualified due to not meeting the entry requirements. Especially when the programs you applied to are competitive.

Application process:

1. Application
Application must be prepared with enough time in advance and you must be very clear of the deadlines and the times you will spend getting your documents in your country of origin and the time that certifications, translations and/or legalization will take. Of course, it depends on your university and your country.
Payment could be done by credit card and is charged immediately. Documents take more time.

2. Sending your documents
One of the reasons to plan your application with time is that some documents could take some weeks to be obtained. There are a number of common documents for all programs and universities and there are specific requirements form some universities and programs. So, you must check both the UA site and the pages of programs you are interested in.

3. Following up
Once University Admissions has your documents the admission process starts. You must check your account at UA as they will use the messages tab to communicate any remark they find in your documents. Keep a watch on your message tab till deadline for document submission is over i.e. 1st Feb. You are still able to modify the order of priority in the programs you selected till deadline.

4. Qualification process
You have had two months or more waiting any news about your application. As soon as the deadline for receiving documents passes, the status in your application will change to

Yes, you can do that. Or you can accept both, meaning that if a place becomes available in the 1st choice you'll be admitted there, if not then you'll be admitted to your second choice.

Hi everyone !

I'm also applying for three masters programmes in Sweden, here are my choices :

1 : KTH , In progress
2 : LTH, In progress
3 : Chalmers, In progress

It starts to become a bit stressful not knowing my merit rating yet but the only thing I can do is obviously waiting... haha

Caroline, I've also been granted an exception as I am currently studying my last year of Bachelor and I got the same problem as you as I received my grades from semester fall/winter 2015 after the deadline. I don't know if I should upload them... I'm afraid I'd be considered late... Have you contacted the universities you're applying to?

Good luck everyone!

As far as I know, we shouldn't upload any documents after the deadline because our apllication may be considered late - in this case documents would have a late date ascribed to them automatically and I don't want to risk.

Guys, maybe you know it - who decides whether I am qualified or not? University Admissions or the University (Lund in my case)? In my Cetrificate of Partial Completion it is stated that my planned graduation date is 09.2016 which is not true - I will graduate in July and my diploma will be issued in August. I contacted the representative of International Recruitment Office in Lund and he said it is not a problem. Also I mentioned this issue in my CV and letter of intent so I don't think University is going to unqualify me. I worry that UA will consider me as unqualified... and the University won't see my application at all...

Posted by: hkaya 23.Feb.2016, 08:19 PM

I contacted Uppsala and they said that since I have already considered to be conditionally qualified, uploading a new transcript wouldn't change anything.

Caroline, UA generally checks application only till dead line date.
If all your documents are in line and if you have not received any messages from UA then your documents has been cleared by UA and decision is now pending with university.

I also wanted to upload my new transcript since my last grades were really great, so I contacted Chalmers and they said that I actually can upload the new transcript and that it wouldn't be considered late. But I still have hesitations. Should I directly send it to the university by regular mail without involving university admissions in this?

Posted by: SimonC 24.Feb.2016, 01:50 PM

Hkaya,

As you told before, University admissions might consider your application late, I've contacted them and they told be the same...
My philosophy of the moment is more like "wait & see" ^^ It may often happen that students in their last year of bachelor can't send their grades of 3rd year before the deadline.
I don't think it's a good idea to send your transcript straight to the uni because it is not the regular process.. But I can be wrong wink.gif

I hope UA won't consider our applications "unqualified" because a transcript is missing.
2 out of 3 universities i've applied to sent me this : "If admitted, you will be required to show your Bachelor's degree (complete transcript and diploma)". "Complete transcript" applies for every documents we were unable to provide before the 1st of february I think smile.gif

You're fine, you'll just have to upload those additional documents when they're available. This assumes you've sent them a partial transcript. I think they still want to see where you stand.

Welcome. University first checks your documents and if all the requirements are fulfilled then you are given qualified status. University then place you in a selection group and assign a merit rating. This merit rating is different for each program and university. So nothing much can be predicted from merit ratings.

As stated before by others: each university determines the merit points in their own way. This could even be different within a university for different programmes. In general I think universities take GPA into account. Personally, I expect that universities take more documents you've sent into account if the programme has a lot of applications compared to available spots. This means that it could actually be a good thing as well if they only consider credits; some programmes accept everyone who they deem to be qualified.

on 12 February 2016, my admission status for Linkoping(1st choice) shows qualified. Still no update since then.
Others are still in progress.

Is it possible to get admit status before 29 March?
what status will one get should she got the admission?

Wish you all the best.

Hi Kingkong !
30 days will be a long time to wait... ! Haha
If your status for Linköping shows qualifies, it might give you your merits grade later but it's not always the case.
Sometimes you can guess that your admitted. For instance if you're in the groupe DA (Direct Admission) and have the maximum merits grade but in most cases you can't really know...
University Admissions won't give you the response before the 29th of March, even if the decision has been already made...

Wish you all the best as well smile.gif

Has anyone else been placed in the same selection groups of the respective universities above?

rick_8393,

I got an update today for Linnaeus Uni. Higher education credits (APAV). MR 180/285.
I do not know what it means, and many sources said that the MR cannot be used to gauge our change to get admission.

Posted by: rick_8393 1.Mar.2016, 05:55 PM

@kingkong,

thank you for the update...i guess we don't have any other option other than waiting till 29th.
I wish you the best of luck for your selection...

by the way, where are you from & which programme have you applied at Linnaeus?

Hi guys,

I got qualified status but the merit ranking system makes me confused.

Master's Programme (One Year) in Management, Lund University
Separat antagning (SEPA)
Your ranking in this selection group is: 475 of a maximum (900)

Is it a very low score? it worries me a lot...
Should I contact the admission officer to ask it?

Thanks

Posted by: Panda_Bear 2.Mar.2016, 02:12 PM

calvindh2904,

I don't think the admission officer will tell you anything important. As I read in a previous forum, there were people with very low scores who got admitted, but I might got it wrong. Don't worry anyway)))

Does anyone of you guys see the point in getting the MR at all? Maybe it is a group in which we compete that is crucial? Are there any sources to find some info?

Hi everyone. got a notification today for the 4th priority. Just posting it here and to get involved in the discussion.
All prog are @ KTH.
1, Environmental Engineering - IN PROGRESS
2, Sustainable Technology - IN PROGRESS
3, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management - IN PROGRESS
4, Civil and Arch Engineering - QUALIFIED - separat antagning (SEPA): Your ranking in this selection group is: 52/75

Posted by: kamleshbth 2.Mar.2016, 02:46 PM

@Panda_Bear,

I agree with you, MR is something which the admission office use (for internal purposes). The Selection Group (SG) is more important as we know atleast in which SG we are competing.

applied masters to umeä and uppsala , it shows in progress. anyone who got admission already?? smile.gif

Kamleshbth,

You might be admitted for your 4th choice ! smile.gif The statistics from last year show that the last person admitted in your group had a MR of 46 (They have changed groups' names this year but I think it's the same though). But you can never be sure as applicants are always different from a year to another of course wink.gif

If anyone wonders where you can find statistics, here is the website : http://statistik.uhr.se

Where did you find the information about the number of points last person had? I couldn't find it in these tables.

Hello everyone!

I've been lurking here for a while now. So anybody else going to Karolinska (besides syan1105 and fmow268)? Have you received updates? I've applied for the Master's Programme in Biomedicine at Karolinska Institutet and just now they posted an update. Qualified with a MR of 17.50/20.00 biggrin.gif . My hopes are high now and I'm slightly relieved, especially since I've spent the last month worrying because I uploaded my supporting documents last minute laugh.gif .

Wish you all the best on your applications, I hope everybody gets successful results

Hey Lisatata,

Congratulations! It looks like you'll head to Stockholm soon (if that is where you'd go =cool.gif. I have received my early conditional admission, and now Im waiting for the scholarship. MR 17.5 is very high. That must be showing your credentials of what you did in the past. Congratulations again! Happy for you. PGIU selection group does not mean you're unqualified. It's actually the opposite, it means you have a guaranteed place. You can check the meaning of these groups here on the page 15. http://www.su.se/polopoly_fs/1.26324.1320939788!/Admission_regulations_for_first_cycle_and_second_cycle_courses_and_study_programmes_at_Stockholm_University_2011.pdf

Yes, of course I was kidding. You'd expect someone who is apparently able to get admitted to a Master Programme in Computer Science and Engineering to understand what 'qualified' and 'guaranteed place' means, wouldn't you?

Hello Everyone!!! I have just joined in this discussion. Like others- I am sharing my status.

1. Master's in Industrial Management- KTH - IN PROGRESS
2. Master's in Industrial Engineering and Management- Linkoping - IN PROGRESS
3. Master's in Industrial Management and Innovation - Uppsala - IN PROGRESS
4. Master's in Production Development and Management - Jonkoping - QUALIFIED

In Jonkoping- there is written "You compete in following selection groups- Utländska master (UTL)". But there is no rating mention like others. Would you please someone explain about no rating number?

I am also competing is Swedish Institute Scholarship Round-2

Since you were deemed to be qualified for your first choice and you were assigned to the 'guaranteed place'-group, you will be accepted there and you will not even be able to choose your second option anymore, so the MR there is not relevant to you (although it seems as if you also got admitted there). The 29th of March you will get the final result and that's the moment you can accept or decline the place that they will offer you at Luleå.

Congratulations to being admitted to your first choice!

My status hasn't yet changed from "in progress" either. I'm guessing we'll get MR scores no later than next Friday, but the wait is also making me anxious. I don't know about GRE scores (never took). If that's a relatively high score, it will help.

I had a slightly lower GPA, but a number of years of work experience. I am, however, applying to a different uni for different programs. If you're fresh out of undergraduate, a lack of experience shouldn't really hurt you.

As for GRE, as the merit values are all calculated by Universityadmissions.se instead of the individual schools, if there is no weight on this in the selection criteria, I don't think it would be helpful.

Hello guys,

All my applications have been updated.

At two of them the status have been changed from 'IN PROGRESS" to "QUALIFIED", however there's no information about merit points nor ranking. Is there any way to know my chances or how well I'm succeeding in these selections?
In another course, i have the message "QUALIFIED - RANK 15 OF 75 (MAX)". What exactly does it means? I'm places at the 15th position of 75 available seats? In this case, the rank might get updated in the course of the next few weeks (until march 29th), or it is the final ranking? Any wonder about my chances for it?

Thank you all,

And good luck to everybody

@Veloso,
The 1-75 is an evaluation scale, which is scaled based on your university, motivation for the studies and grades. You will be in a SG (selection group) where you compete with fellow applicants. Anyways wait until Mar 29 if it gets updated! I m not sure if the scale will change but you never know.

Veloso, what programme have you applied for? smile.gif
Being rated out of 75 reminds be of the master in architecture from KTH, is that it?
If yes, last year, the last person to be admitted had a MR of 6/75 wink.gif

@Veloso,

Yes its a bit low sad.gif as i read your post, 15/75 might be your last priority (is it?) Some university ask for thesis proposal, autobiographical statements etc as motivation to studies! Did they ask those? they also value based on those and another might be the grades/marks on specific subjects.

Hi Simon, I'm applying for the Master in Industrial Engineering at KTH. I was checking at http://statistik.uhr.se their statistics for the last year, and seems the last person was admitted with 16/75. However, this year they have more applicants then in 2015, so I'm afraid this rank will go a bit higher.

Indeed it is my last priority, do they consider it while defining my score?
I'm asking because I provided all of the documents they required (no thesis proposals, nor autobiographical statements, etc). Do you think I should have attached such documents that weren't required in order to get higher marks?
I submitted a motivation letter which i considered coherent, specially given that this master is a continuation of my graduation course, and also considering that I have a reasonable CV with 5 years of work experience in this field - however, i recognise that what I consider good or reasonable is very subjective under someone else's point of view =)
My grades are average, definitely much higher than 15/75 =)

I'm also applying at Linkoping, however they don't publish any merit ranking, just placed me as "qualified", so I guess I have no means to know what are my chances there until march the 29th.

Another doubt, what's the meaning of the each of the "Selection Groups" which appears at http://statistik.uhr.se (BEFR, AVG, DA, SA, SEPA...)?

Thank you all guys!

Posted by: kamleshbth 11.Mar.2016, 04:49 PM

@Veloso,
No They dont consider the priority during scoring and you dont have to send/upload those documents if they didnt ask for and again these Merit Ratings are very much internal!

The explanation for SG follows:

BEFR: Tuition fee waived
AVG: Tuition fee required
DA: Direct Admission
SA: Late Application
SEPA: Seperate Admissions

Just one last doubt, what exactly is this "Separate Admissions"? All the other other group names look straightforward to me, but not this one, and eventually in one of my applications I've been put on this "SEPA" wink.gif

Guys.

Unless you have the maximum "grade", the merit ratings numbers don't mean shit.
If you have 999 out of 999 congrats you'll have a seat.
If you have 800 out of 999 maybe you'll be taken maybe not.
Because it all depends of the MR of the other applicants. If they have 20 seats and the 20th best applicant on their list has 450, you're in. If the 20th better has 850, you're not. We can't get anything "sure" from these numbers.
But we can have a little clue by checking on the statistics website what the minimum MR was last year to be offered a seat. Some programmes even accepted people with a MR of 0.
However, taking into account the total number of applicants is important, as the more candidates there is the higher the probability of being in competition with better people, so the minimum MR to be accepted would increase.

Hold on, we're almost there. Wishing all of you good luck.

Good summary Bangbang!

I'd just like to add that the number of applicants written on the statistics website is not the real number of people who are actually competing for a seat as it is very simple to apply on the internet and not send any documents for whatever reason. Moreover, some people are unqualified so we never know how many people are eligible for sure and compete for a seat wink.gif An increase in the number of applicants compared to last year may not necessarily mean more competition!

Yes thanks god the number on screed does not reflect the real competition. I was just talking about the probability of increased competition smile.gif

Yes, you're absolutely right.. They even say somehow the same in their statistics' website. However it's hard to keep calm while waiting... Hehehe smile.gif i always get myself digging i to these numbers and trying to make some sense out of it biggrin.gif
But yes, i agree it is useless ))

I've got it from their website:
http://studera.nu/startpage/road-to-studies/admission-to-university-studies/admissions-statistics/
"The grade average needed may have been lower
It can happen that the final grade average that was offered a place in a certain course or programme was actually lower than what is given in the admission statistics database. This is because the universities themselves take care of the admissions process after the second selection round. It's possible that places can become available and that applicants with a lower grade average are then offered a place."

Hey, guys! rolleyes.gif
Did anyone get any news from Lund? All my programmes in Lund are still marked as "in progress", and it kind of makes me nervous. Gothenburg gave me "Qualified", however, no merit rating and just a selection group "Individual assessment". Maybe someone got the same situation?
Only 11 working days left for the Universities to check our applications, hoping for the better!

Hi everyone,

My first post here. So I applied to these master programs:

1) KTH - Industrial Management - IN PROGRESS
2) Uppsala Uni. - Industrial Management and Innovation - IN PROGRESS
3) KTH - Production Engineering and Management - QUALIFIED (Merit rating of 33/75 separat antagning (SEPA))
4) KTH - Aerospace Engineering - IN PROGRESS

So I only have one update on my applications. And I don't really know what SEPA means. I checked the statistics from the previous years and they never accepted people from SEPA group so I am abit worried.

Might be worth to mention that I will be in fee paying student category.

Some additional info about my application:
Undergraduate GPA: 3.39/4
TOEFL Score: 99
Job Experience: 4 years as an R&D Engineer

Hi Everyone, Any one applied for a master program in statistics at Stockholm or a Master in Applied statistics at Orebro?

And does anyone know the least MR for a Master Of statistics student at Stockholm and Master of Applied Statistics Student at orebro to be admitted in 2015? Tried using the statistics website but failed.

Hi everyone,

I just got here through my friend's information. I am so thankful we have this forum to share and gain information. I applied on University Admission for autumn 2016 intake for these programmes:

1. Information Technology and Learning, Gothenburg University -- In Progress
2. Information Systems, Uppsala University -- In Progress
3. Information Systems Management, Stockholm University -- Qualified, No Selection (PGIU)

Approximately 16 days to the 1st notification result, fingers crossed and good luck for all of us! smile.gif

Posted by: thestud 14.Mar.2016, 03:05 PM

15 days to admission results, all the best to everyone.
I applied to the following programmes

1. Information Systems - Lund University - Qualified
2. Information Systems - Uppsala University - In Progress
3. Information Systems Management - Stockholm University - Qualified, No Selection (PGIU)
4. Information Technology and Learning - Gothenburg University - In Progress

Stockholm University confirmed via email that they were happy to inform that they were able to admit all qualified students to the Information Systems Management programme this year but its best to confirm with them and wait for official results.

Anyway, anyone else concerned about job/career prospects since they have no background or knowledge in the Swedish language? as from my research most graduate schemes require fluency in English and Swedish.

A majority of the jobs in Sweden require a certain level of proficiency in Swedish, and they have a public scale of proficiency with either 3 or 4 levels if I remember correctly. Basic labor jobs require level 1 proficiency, but professional work requires a higher level of proficiency (2 may be sufficient for a fair amount of jobs). The one exception is where the position in question requires a native English (or other language) speaker, public communications roles, for example. The good news is that Swedish, while somewhat challenging sometimes, really isn't too difficult of a language to learn, and you can learn it while you study, which would be my plan.

I would suggest the Duolingo app to get a basic foundation. It's free, and surprisingly good. It will help you a lot with written Swedish, and even though the app teaches spoken, it's much harder to understand in person.

I have been "unqualified" in the my third choice of program at Uppsala University, even though I meet all the necessary requirements for the same.
I inquired about this and they informed me that its a default message and the final results will only be published on the 29th of March.
I have also come to know from an insider source that it could be because I might have already been selected in either my first or second choices. I am not sure if this is true as their status is still "in progress".

hey, we're in the same boat here, my third choice which happens to be at Uppsala also shows 'unqualified'. Looking at their requirements, while it is technically true that my modules at bachelor level do not fulfill their requirements (i.e. not enough credits in certain subject areas), I think it's covered elsewhere e.g. from practical modules, but am not entirely sure. Do you reckon it'll be useful to email them about it?

I also got "unqualified" from Gothenburg's university:

"You are missing the following specific entry requirements:

Could be correct based on their exact requirements, although i'm fairly sure a guy from my school got accepted there couple of years ago.

Hi guys.
I received this morning this message from University of Skövde:

[i]Dear Ana,
As program director, I would hereby like to personally thank you for your application to our program Cognitive Neuroscience: Mind, Brain and Wellbeing, via universityadmissions.se.
The first round of admissions has now completed, and I'm happy to inform you that you have passed the initial eligibility evaluation for our program. Please note that this does not guarantee a study place, as final admissions offers still depend on a number of different factors (such as how favorably your previous course transcript compares to that of your applicant peers, how many prospective students accept a study place here, your placement on the reserves list, etc).
You will eventually be asked to respond to this initial offer via universityadmissions.se. Apart from that, in the meantime, I would like to invite you to contact me with any questions or queries you might have in relation to your application to our program. You can also find further important information from our program webpage at http://www.his.se/cognitive-neuroscience-mbw/, and get a feel for life at the department by visiting our department webpage at http://cogneuro.se/.
If nothing else, I hope to see you in Skövde after summer. Failing that, I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors.

Yours sincerely,
Oskar MacGregor BA BPhil PhD
Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience
Department of Cognitive Neuroscience and Philosophy
School of Bioscience
University of Skövde
Tel: +46 (0)500 44 88 32

However, my status in universityadmissions.se is "in progress"

Have anyone received a message directly from the university?

Hello People!

This is my first post here.

Here's my application status:

- Master's Programme (One year) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Lund- IN PROGRESS

- Master Programme in Service Management, Karlstad- QUALIFIED (Academic Credits (HS), Ranking 180/999)

- Master of Science in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship, Gothenburg- QUALIFIED (GMAT, Ranking 570/999)

- Master's Programme in Strategic Entrepreneurship for International Growth, Strategic Leadership, Halmstad- QUALIFIED (Separat antagning alla (SEPA), Ranking 200/999)

Really confused by all those raking and Merit rating groups! Could only hope for the best. Can anyone suggest what these could mean? Or whether I would have any realistic chances?

So far got no email from any university. Just been requested to send a video presentation to Lund, and did so.

Here's my profile in short:

Bachelor of Business Administration: CGPA: 3.65/4
GRE: 309, AWA 4
IELTS: 7.5
TOEFL: 111
Experience: 4 years

Would love to know your opinion about my chances.

Solid credentials. Great that you did the GRE and your GPA is really good too. They definitely take into account your undergrad university's reputation and your specific work experience, but assuming those are good, you'll likely get into at least one of your programs.

after a while reading this thread I thought I could also write something in it ;-)

In my universityadmissions account it states:

1) Uppsala university - forensic science - conditionally qualified - merit rating: 900/999

So according to the "Antagningspoäng" of the last two years it seems that I have good chances to get a place offered. Am I right with this guess?

And additionally I was wondering whether here is anybody else who has applied for forensic science?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Hi, TriTraTrullala. According the information in statistik.uhr.se, you would be highly likely to be offered a place in this programme and big congratulation for you.

I am not doing forensic science, however, before this week, I got an email from Upppsala telling me that I can be admitted into their programme in Medical Research, which is in the same faculty as yours. They did not give me a formal admission letter because it can only happen after 23 MAR.

Hello guys! Im in a bit of a dilemma atm and this looks like a good place to talk about it. I had applied for the master's program in electronics design at Mid Sweden university. Yesterday, the status of my application with Mid Sweden was changed to unqualified, citing the reason that I dont meet the entry requirements for mathematics.

I felt that I was qualified and sent them an E-mail about this. Turns out they evaluated the credits I earned without taking into account the fact that my country (India) uses and entirely different credit system. At my university, each course is worth very few credits (3-4 on average) and grade points are more important. Going by this method, it is impossible for me to secure a seat at Mid Sweden or any university that uses this system even if I have done enough course work.

I would like to know if anyone form India or any country for that matter have faced this problem. Is there a way to convert my credits to the ECTS system that was mentioned in the entry requirements? What can I do to appeal this decision.

Im sorry if this is the incorrect thread for this, but this seemed to be most relevant place. Thank you in advance and all the best.

Actually when they do evaluation on your academic background, they would convert your course credits into whatever credits they think should fit into and they know the fact that each country has their own education system. Trust me, because they are not so stupid. In addition, some of them would have another set of calculation manner, for instance, based on course weeks.

These are all what I know, and you can send email to UA for more clarification.

I am not implying that anyone is stupid. I assure you that was not my intention. From their reply to my E-mail, it seemed to me that they simply added up the credits for my courses from my transcript and since that doesnt meet the entry requirements, rejected my application. I just wanted to know if anyone else faced this issue and what they did about it. So that if I dont get a seat at a univeristy in this cycle, I might have a chance next time. I will take your advice and contact university admissions. Thank you and good luck.

Hello everyone,

After following this forum for a while, I decided to post info on my application here as well:

1) KTH - Media Management - IN PROGRESS
2) Jönköping University - Digital Business - IN PROGRESS
3) Jönköping University - Strategic entepreneurship - IN PROGRESS

Apparently KTH is slightly falling behind with processing applications this year. Is here anyone who applied for either of these programs and got their application processed? I am also applying for Visby scholarship this year.
I wish could stop going to my application 10 times a day. smile.gif.

Best of luck to all of us.

Hi guys !

I just got an update !

1) Master's Programme, Architecture, 120 credits, KTH : QUALIFIED MR : 75/75 (SEPA)

2) Master's programme in Architecture, LTH : UNQUALIFIED
But there is not reason... Can I be unqualified because I have the maximum MR for KTH ?

Chalmers is still in progress...

If I have the maximum MR, can I consider I am admitted ? smile.gif

Hey! I also applied for the programs no 1, 2 and 3 on your list and also got an update:

KTH - Production Engineering and Management - QUALIFIED (Merit rating of 52/75 separat antagning (SEPA))

I should be "conditionally qualified" as at the time of the application I was still during my final semester of bachelor studies. I am in the non fee paying category so it is interesting that we are in the same SEPA group, maybe they will make a further separation later.

Also, I checked on www.statistik.uhr.se and last year there was no SEPA group so it is hard to say what our chances are. Report when you have a change from your other applications! smile.gif

Congrats, that's a good sign for Architecture! However, that's not a guarantee of admission, unless you find yourself in the PG Guaranteed Place group.

As for LTH, if there is no reason for you to be unqualified then e-mail them and ask, other users did so and it helped! Furthermore, your status can change in time. There have been cases of people being unqualified and after time it was changed to qualified. The reason for this being that some universities say that you are unqualified unless proven otherwise, so the "unqualified" is the default status.. I don't know exactly, but sometimes this system is weird, it's best to e-mail them and ask directly wink.gif

Posted by: SimonC 16.Mar.2016, 11:51 AM

Thank you Salazaar!

I just sent an email to the admission officer of LTH to get an explanation. I think I have an idea about why I am unqualified : I am in my last year of Bachelor and LTH didn't sent me a message saying that I have been granted an exemption as KTH and Chalmers did. They may then consider that I am not qualified because I don't have a Bachelor degree at the moment. wink.gif

Does anybody have experience with this.

I'm from Nigeria. I applied to Lund University for Msc Geology. It changed from in process to Unqualified Feb 16, and I got a message that until my transcripts are verified I would remain Unqualified. The thing is it's now a month out since then and it's still showing Unqualified and with just 2 weeks left over till the notification of results I guess am getting worried. How long does verification take? I contacted my home University and they told me I would need a reference to be able to track if any message had come over from University Admissions as they deal with thousands everyday and they don't know if it was sent electronically or by Post. What do you guys think? Should I email Lund University as to why it's taking so long, my anxieties have gone on overdrive. I also applied for SI scholarships but if I can't secure admission obviously that's useless now.

Your thoughts, please? unsure.gif

Hello,

My current application status:

1. KTH - Interactive Media Technology IN PROGRESS
2. KTH - Computer Science UNQUALIFIED
3. Uppsala - Computer Science QUALIFIED and merit rating is: AU, 850 of a maximum (999)
4. Mälardalen - Software Engineering QUALIFIED and merit rating is: HPAV, 180 of a maximum (285)

I've contacted KTH to ask why I'm marked as unqualified and I'm waiting for a response. I got an DD on one of the courses they list in their specific requirements list. Could that be why I'm unqualified ?

Getting accepted to Uppsala seems like a long shot but I guess I've a chance for Mälardalen.

Still waiting for a change on KTH Interactive Media Tech. I've also applied to SI for that programme so fingers crossed smile.gif

University Admissions requires official undergrad transcripts from certain countries to be sent from the university by mail, sealed. I applied from the US and was required to have my university registrar send official, sealed transcripts via regular post. I had to pay a fee of $45 for the transcripts, and another $50 to have it sent FedEX air express. See here: https://www.universityadmissions.se/en/All-you-need-to-know1/Applying-for-studies/Documenting-your-eligibility-for-studies/Instructions-for-Masters-applicants/Specific-requirements-for-my-country1/

"If your degree was awarded in Cameroon, Canada, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, or USA, an official transcript of record must be sent directly from your university in a sealed envelope, to the address below. You cannot upload or send your transcript to us via post.

If you studied at a university accredited by the United States, you must also arrange for your transcript to be sent directly from your university in a sealed envelope."

If I were you, I would immediately have this done (if this is not what you already did) as FedEX can still take up to two weeks and time is running out.

Slickmann,

According to what I can read, you have nothing to do. They just gave you a temporary unqualified status but as you followed the right process regarding your transcripts sent directly by your university, it just means they haven't reviewed your application yet. They still have 2 weeks to do it so don't be too stressed wink.gif You can send an email to be sure anyways wink.gif

I didn't realize this. Was it sent directly from you university registrar in a sealed envelope? If so, I'd follow the advice from the above comments.

Also, did you send a copy of your diploma? I photo should be sufficient, but they do require an image of your diploma (converted to PDF).

Applied Ethology and Animal Biology - Linköping University - Qualified

Ethology - Stockholm University - In progress

Undergraduate GPA: 3.91/4.00 (Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation - Canisius College - USA)
GMAT/GRE: None
CV: 1 full year experience as a research assistant

Hello everyone!

I have been lurking here for a couple of days, trying to figure out the merit rating system, but since I've not seen much about Karolinska I figured I'd ask in case anyone else has applied for the same program.

I have applied to the following:

Master's Programme in Bioentrepreneurship - Karolinska Institutet - Qualified - MR 12.00 out of 20.00
Master Programme in Applied Biotechnology - Uppsala University - Unqualified (turns out my Algebra game was not strong enough!)
Master Programme in Biomedicine - Lund University - Qualified
Master Programme in Biomedicine - Uppsala University - In progress

My undergraduate degree was not my brightest moment: BSc (Hons), Molecular Biology & Genetics - Democritus University of Thrace - Greece, with a 2.42/4.00 GPA

but classmates of mine with similar grades have all been admitted to Uppsala Biomedice and Molecular Medicine programs the past two years, so I'm remaining hopeful.

I have completed a EU-funded traineeship and I have a 4 year research experience (3, if you exclude the time that was connected to my bachelor's) along with a couple published papers and posters/presentations in the ASH and EHA conferences. So I am mostly counting on these and my motivation letter and ambition & initiative application parts to counteract my low degree grade.

As far as Karolinska goes, based on the past 3-year statistics, the minimum merit rating was 8.00 out of 20.00, so does that mean I have a fighting chance? Also, is the min MR the one of the last reserve, or the one of the last one admitted? Because there are a lot of reserves, and if the last one's MR was 8.00, 12.00 could most likely be a reserve MR too.

Thank you for the previous comments and good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone,

I think my case might be useful for someone who recently got unqualified. This afternoon, I received a notification from Jonkoping saying I was unqualified for Master's in Digital Business and Strategic Entrepreneurship. They said I didn't have enough ECTS in business management, even though I did. Got really upset, to say the least. I wrote them an email pointing this out and ,guess what, they changed it to qualified. Uffff, got a heart attack this afternoon. smile.gif
I am now competing in Utländska master (UTL) group - no merit rating has been assigned though.
Does anyone have an idea what it means?

I was actually afraid of that too. No I don't have a basic industrial management course :/ I hope its not a reason for being unqualified cause that is what I really want to study.

Me too, reading the program outline I thought that this is exactly what I am looking for. Even in my letter of motivation I tried to convince them why I think I am prepared to start this program even though I don't have basic Industrial Management. Is it a good position?

I got an update this morning. My previous status at Lund has turned into QUALIFIED from IN PROGRESS. Although no other info related to rating.

1) Master's Programme (One year) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Lund- QUALIFIED
2) Master Programme in Service Management, Karlstad- QUALIFIED (Academic Credits (HS), Ranking 180/999)
3) Master of Science in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship, Gothenburg- QUALIFIED (GMAT, Ranking 570/999)
4) Master's Programme in Strategic Entrepreneurship for International Growth, Strategic Leadership, Halmstad- QUALIFIED (Separat antagning alla (SEPA), Ranking 200/999)

Waiting anxiously...

I got notification ;-
You compete in the following selection groups:
separat antagning (SEPA)
Your ranking in this selection group is: 53 of a maximum (75)
for Master's Programme, Civil and Architectural Engineering, 120 credits KTH-E0130

I checked http://statistik.uhr.se/ but could'nt comprehend as the group there was AVG.

Can someone check last years statistics for my selection

Thanks!

@cyrel
I got unqualified firstly but it was by mistake. It said I didn't meet the general and specific course requirements. I called to the phone, waited like 30 minutes in the queue, and then they said it was a mistake and put in progress again.
I don't know if it will be the same for you, but I think calling them is the best option, so that they can explain you why you don't meet the requirements at least.

1, Environmental Engineering, KTH - QUALIFIED - SEPA): 46/75
2, Sustainable Technology, KTH - QUALIFIED - SEPA): 46/75
3, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, KTH - QUALIFIED - SEPA): 25/75
4, Civil and Arch Engineering, KTH - QUALIFIED - SEPA): 52/75

12 more days to go smile.gif

Hello fellow applicants,
This is my first post here. I see status update on 2 of my KTH applications. It shows I am qualified in SEPA group.

Master's Programme, Machine Learning, KTH Royal Institute of Technology QUALIFIED (MR 19/75)

Master's Programme, Network Services and Systems KTH Royal Institute of Technology QUALIFIED (MR 15/75)

Although being qualified is a little relief, but my low merit score does not seem very promising. On statistik website, there is no data for SEPA. Seems like agony will continue for another week or so.

All the best to other applicants.

cheers

2. Jönköping - Digital Business - Qualified (Utländska master) no MR
3. Jönköping - Strategic Entrepreneurship - Qualified (Utländska master) no MR

All three of my Lund applications are now qualified as of today, but not merit ratings yet.

Master Programme in Middle Eastern Studies, Lund University - QUALIFIED

No MR info yet, and I can see that the statistik.uhr.se site is currenty down, so I'm not able to double check but when I was looking at the last year's statistics, I saw that the lowest MR rating for that programme was 0. I was quite dumbfounded by that so I just concluded (since there were more applicants than admittanties) that MES-Lund don't use the MR system as some other programmes do.

Also my MR is: 999 of a maximum (999). Is that good? I thought my grades were good

I suppose it just means that there has only been an initial evaluation if meet the entry requirements or not. Selection might be under way now but it just needs time until we get an MR.// I expect to get one early next week but it could take longer as well.

I've applied to the Corporate Financial Management track of the MSc in Accounting and Finance at Lund. How about you?

Honestly I can't wait for the 29th, I'm literally dying to get the results.

Posted by: dsands 17.Mar.2016, 02:17 PM

I echo the above comment. They've assessed what you've provided and determined that you've provided all the correct documentation. No assessment of anything else yet.

I applied to:

1. Innovation and Spatial Dynamics

2. International Marketing/Strategic Brand Management

3. Finance

I'm also dying for the results smile.gif

The first thing I do each day when I wake up is check admissions for changes. Then I come here to see what's going on with everyone else. I repeat this process roughly every hour or two throughout the day.

We'll have to meet up if you get accepted Odiob. Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing you're from the US or Canada.

My understanding is that higher is better, and the highest you can get means that people can only get as high a score as you, but not higher, so you're at the top. I could be wrong, but that's what I've read.

Posted by: kamleshbth 17.Mar.2016, 03:36 PM

@elamre,

999/999 is highest number one can get. So its really good!

AU is alternative selection. meaning, you will be selected based on entry tests, specific work experience or other merits or simply just by your marks because you might not have ECTS credits for them to evaluate. Each university can allocate up to one third of the seats based on this criteria AU that they themselves decide, in your case its mainly because your credits are not ects.

Thats good news!
Strange thing is though, that i did get ECTS rewarded. All my subjects are in ECTS. So that means I will have to take an entry test of some kind?

Posted by: kamleshbth 17.Mar.2016, 03:51 PM

@elamre,
Then you shd be DA Direct Admission. Mmm strange. anyways. It is university's decision to put you in that group. But you have good rating. see this link what i said about the 1/3 reservations.
https://antagning.se/sv/Ta-reda-pa-mer-/Platsfordelning-och-urval/Alternativt-urval-/

No am not sure what will be their requirement. They might have put you in that group because they can (above link)

Hello,
I have applied to Lund's and Karolinska for a MPH.
- Lund qualified me conditionally without a MR rating yet.
- Karolisnka also qualified me but with an MR rating of 11 out of 20 ((. That's low but my fingers are still crossed tho))

Posted by: fabu2m@gmail.com 17.Mar.2016, 05:00 PM

This is a big market and business did by Sweden education.
You can't imagine in 500 applicants you can choose 10 admitted only after received them application fees 900SEK!!!!
I terrible surprised by the last merit rating and admitted number in those last years 2014-2015!!!

let us wait until 29 March.

The first thing I do each day when I wake up is check admissions for changes. Then I come here to see what's going on with everyone else. I repeat this process roughly every hour or two throughout the day.

I do the same exact thing! haha

Anyways,
I applied for:

1. KTH - MSc Molecular Techniques in Life Sciences - In Progress (though I got a preliminary offer of admission just this morning, see image below)
2. KTH - MSc Molecular Science and Engineering - Qualified - SEPA MR 65/75
3. Uppsala - MSc Molecular Biotechnology - Unqualified (though I'm sure I fulfill all their requirements - ECTS wise)

My life has come down to opening the admission website every single or hour or so.. 12 more days!

*edit: I'm in my final year of undergraduate course and in the fee-paying group.

Posted by: Veloso 17.Mar.2016, 06:32 PM

I've received updates in all of my applications.. I've been qualified in 3 and unqualified in one of them.
I have 2 doubts:

1) For two courses i've been qualified but no MR has been included. Neither here's information about which Selection Group i've been placed. Checking last few year's statistics, i've noticed that there has been no reserve list for these courses. Does it mean that every qualified applicant has been offered a seat in the last few years?
2) I was placed in the SEPA (separate urval) on the third course. I've got that it is separated selection group, but in practical terms, what does it mean?

Best wishes to you all

Hope to see you in Sweden smile.gif

Hi guys.

I finally got an update in my application.

Cognitive Neuroscience: Mind, Brain and Wellbeing - Master's Programme
QUALIFIED.
You compete in the following selection groups:
Alternativt urval (AU)
Your ranking in this selection group is: 751 of a maximum (800)

I really hope my ranking is enough.
I am getting really anxious. I cannot wait till March 29th

Information Systems - Lund - Qualified
Information Systems - Uppsala - In Progress
Information Systems Management - Stockholm- Qualified, PGIU
Information Technology and Learning - Gothenburg - Qualified, AU

I echo the above comment. They've assessed what you've provided and determined that you've provided all the correct documentation. No assessment of anything else yet.

I applied to:

1. Innovation and Spatial Dynamics

2. International Marketing/Strategic Brand Management

3. Finance

I'm also dying for the results smile.gif

We'll have to meet up if you get accepted Odiob. Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing you're from the US or Canada.

I have pretty the same daily routine as you described. I think what makes it worse is that we have that exact date of the release of the selection results, but everybody just wants to get it now.

Yeah should definitely organise some kind of meet up if we get in.

No, I'm originally from Austria smile.gif My status is conditional because I'm in the final year of my undergraduate degree.

Hi,

I actually didn't have the specific course that was on the requirements but I didn't think it would get me unqualified. I thought maybe I would get lower rating or something. But I still emailed the program coordinator to ask if there is anything I can do to fix it.

Where did you call to ask why you were unqualified?

Time is not far away. But these days will be really hard to pass because of first notification. Can any one of you tell me what does that mean?

I can see this message:

Master´s Programme in Decision Support and Risk Analysis

You compete in the following selection groups: Qualified

No selection (PGIU)

Please share if any information you have. I have also look that PDF in internet from Stockholm University. But there is not any particular information which is really telling what that mean. Thank you in advance and best of luck to all of you.

From what I have gathered it means that all qualified students are guaranteed a place. I have the same status from Stockholm University for the Information Systems Management and when I emailed the university they said they were happy to inform that they are able to admit all qualified students to the programme this year. However, the official results come out in a few days and that's when you can truly know.

I don't think AU selection group is for all non-EU students. There are plenty of students on this forum who are non-EU and have different selection groups. I researched a bit and found out that AU group is for those students whose qualifications don't really match the program so they won't be evaluated on the basis of their ECTS credits, but other merits like grades, experience etc. And this is true for me. My BA has nothing to do with IT but my work experience is in IT-related education sector.

AP means academic credits

I assume you read that in a forum from last year when the official admission results were released on the 26th of March.

Everyone hates the wait and is hoping for an early decision but unfortunately none of us will get an official decision before the 29th. Don't get your hopes up.

Hej alla!

It's my first post here though I have been reading this thread for a month or so (as I'm sure a lot of people are doing right now!). Today I've finally got rid of all the "in progress" statuses:

MP in International and Comparative Education, Stockholm University - Qualified (no MR yet, so waiting AGAIN)
MP in Media, Communication and Cultural Analysis, Södertorn University - Unqualified
Master in Communication, University of Gothenburg - Qualified, MR 225 out of 225
Mater in International Communication, Jönköping - Unqualified

Certainly these "unqualified" statuses are not very pleasant but they were much expected.

However, there is an interesting thing: Gothenburg updated the status to qualified in the first days of February and the MR was 180! Now it's 225 out of 225. So I guess they are still reconsidering the rankings and that's good news.

Hi i was looking at information on KTH-E0824 KTH industrial management masters on
http://statistik.uhr.se/

MasterHT16 :
*606 applicants
*252 1:a handssokande (don't speak swedish so i'm guessing it's number qualified?)

Urval 1
not available

Urval 2
not available

MasterHT15:
*527 applicants
*240 1:a handssokande

Urval 1
AVG : 65 antagningspöang (i'm thinking it's the merit rating cutoff?) 6 antagna 15 reserver
BEFR: 62 antagningspöang 17 antagna 56 reserver

Urval 2
AVG : 65 antagningspöang 6 antagna 19 reserver
BEFR: 62 antagningspöang 18 antagna 84 reserver

if someone can translate the swedish it may help us figure out what all these mean. if this year's admission is similar to last year's statistics, 62 or 65 is a pretty high cutoff merit rating!

1:a handssokande= it signifies that they have had industrial management as first prio.
antagningspöang= merit ranking.
Kth have to different merit rating groups: BEFR=from EU, AVG= Student who have to pay tuition fees

That mean they take approximately 17-20 student from SEPA, student who have to pay
Which is a logical reason for the high merit rating 62

I just get CONDITIONALLY QUALIFIED at KTH Master's Programme, Systems, Control and Robotics with ranking 68 of a maximum (75).
Anyone else applied there ?

Hey guys, I have just arrived in the forum. Could you please help me with one question? What actually is this merit ranking? Is it good or bad to have a high merit ranking, near to the maximum?

Anyone here applying for systems control and robotics at KTH?

Cheers!
