I think that the 'almighty' at the Local should try and sort out an instant messaging feature, much to the likeness of MSN or even a chat room!!!!

Good idea?

They could start an IRC chat room really easily. Or anyone could, really, and post the information. As far as clients go, both Trillian and Gaim are free and support your normal IM protocols and IRC as well. If you want to set it up yourself, you can IM me on ICQ at 299623335 - I'll walk you through setting up a channel on an IRC server if you aren't familiar with it. Cool idea.

If you want an ICQ number, it's a bit confusing to find the registration link from the main page. You can go here.

Soon you will start to ask for PC to PC dial up! Am already struggling with limiting the time i spend here. Moreover an instant chatting messenger might kill the overall ideas shared here and reduce the number of people privy to an ongoing discussion as people might tend to limit discussions between a few individuals!

I don't know, I think the type of conversation varies depending on the medium. I think you would just see a different aspect of people.
