Which is why I cashed in all my UK pensions and other assets when I moved to Sweden in 2003.
With A no deal Brexit looming in 10 days, I must have been clairvoyant. 16 years ago.
The downside has been it has not stopped UK based financial service companies pestering me with cold calls.

You would normally have to have a minimum of 12 months employment with a Swedish company and permanent employment status to get a mortgage.

it is quite normal for companies to send an invoice for a service which is actually an offer, Neither party is bound until you accept the offer by paying the faktura.
I get several every week for breakdown service insurance, magazines etc which I use to light the fire.

Then he could be an advocate of licenciatism or postalism ? ?

I seem to remember from way - way back when - where those doing bird (from the Cockney slang 'bird lime = time' for the uninitiated) had to pick hemp during their incarceration, among other things. Nowadays they have cell phones (??) TV and access to the Internet and heaven knows what, that many on the outside never have a chance of having.

The time is fast approaching when us pensioners will be doing crimes to get sent to prison. much better life than on the outside.

[quote name='Hisingen' post='881232' date='4.Jan.2016, 11:39 PM']Go ahead with your Guinness, and thank you for that old friend. I was worried there for a few minutes, bearing in mind the hours I spent achieving that masterpiece. rolleyes.gif
Now I can go back to my glass of Strongbow (bought from the British Corner Shop I might add, and which was included in my pre-Christmas purchase). It is real nice when the delivery van turns up with the latest order, even if the driver has to stagger the last few yards under the weight. I usually get him to put it down inside the door to make it easier for me.

By the by - I managed to nobble that spammer Bj

It seems that a lot of cyclists believe that they always have the right of way in any situation and can ignore signs and other road users.
I was on my way home today from town when an old guy (older than my youthful 70 years) on a racing bike shot off a cycle track on to a pedestrian crossing right in front of me. He was doing at least 20 kph, I was going at 30 with my speed limiter engaged. I saw him coming from my left just in time to stop on the crossing. He then starts giving me a mouthful that I should have stopped earlier a let him pass and that I had now spoilt his speed trial!! I told him that it was a pedestrian crossing not a cycle crossing but he claimed he still had the right of way. To him and anybody else who thinks that cyclists can ride over a pedestrian crossing, be informed that a marked crossing that is not controlled by lights is for walking on only.cyclists must push their cycles over a crossing after ensuring that their is no car on the road close to the crossing.

QUOTE (Emerentia @ 30.Jul.2015, 10:40 PM) *
Define what you mean by racist. Is it racist if an employer who have customers or clients who speaks Swedish and English hire a person who speaks Swedish and English over a person who speaks, for instance Urdu and English with an Indian accent that is a hard for the customer and clients to understand? Compare to your own country, how easy would it be for a Swede who didn't speak the language of that country to get a job. How racist are people from your country on a scale from 1-10? How many immigrants/capita does your country have per year? Does those immigrant get jobs, well paid jobs, on arrival?

And what do you mean by "feel accepted"? Some immigrants seem to think that Swedes are racists if they are not handed everything they want on a platter. That Swedes somehow are here to serve them. "What?! Why didn't I get a Swedish girlfriend on arrival?! How very racist of them!" "What?! Didn't I get a bunch of friends, a house, a job, an free education?! That's so racist!".

What do you want from Swedes or Sweden to "feel accepted"? In most cases immigrants are treated like ju everybody else, but immigrants wants strangers to smile and talk to them on the bus (and if the strangers are women, preferably also give them their phone number and go out for a drink with them... otherwise we're stonehearted ice queens...Oh, I forgot racist stonehearted ice queens...). That people don't talk to you, smile at you, or offer you things doesn't mean that we're racist, we treat everybody like that, we're just minding our own business and expect you to do the same. But some immigrants seem to think that it's all about them, and that Swedes should change to suit their needs and wants.

Exactly, but expect to be called a racist for saying it.

You need a clear view to the southeast 28.2 deg E to get Sky or Freesat and around 150cm dish. You will have a problem getting permission to errect such a dish. Your best bet is internet TV via a VPN or a smart box. You can also get the Filmon app and project to your TV.

As most modern cars have complicated electronics, putting on a tow bar and connecting up the lights socket to the system is not simple, so you would be best advised to go to a main dealer for the car.

The law is down to where you are registered as resident. Both Germany and Sweden require you to register your place of residence. In Sweden when you register with your local Skatteverket, you are liable for tax on your worldwide income in Sweden and as far as EU law is concerned any car that you own must be registered, taxed and insured in the country that you are officially resident irrespective of your nationality.

If you have a PN, even if your RHD is UK insured, it is not valid in Sweden. If you have an accident you are not insured and it will be your fault even if the other car drove into you. It is idiots who flount the law that put up the cost of insurance.

I reckon it was the lasers. I just feel sorry for the animals that escaped from the zoo

You are wrong, it was definitely a couple who stripped of in the zoo for a selfie that caused the Gods to drown them with a cloudburst that sent all the animals free.. Not a lazer in sight.

The OP may claim to pay tax but it seems that as a temporary worker, he is considered as self employed. This exempts his employer from paying the 30% social cost that they would have to pay for an employee with a PN. A self employed person would either have to be registered and pay 22% social cost to get normal 'free' health cover or get comprehensive health insurance. If you do not have cover or an EIHC card you will be charged the full cost of the treatment.
A couple of years ago we had a friend vist us from the UK who is a dual UK/US citizen, she came on her US passport and forgot her EIHC card. She had a' woman's problem' and I took her to our V?rcentral where she paid 5,000kr to be seen by a doctor and another 400kr for medication.

It may be seen as saving money to not get full medical cover when being abroad temporarily but it can cost you dear if anything goes wrong.

Another facto against importing a RHD car to Sweden is the resale value which is zero. When I sold my RHD 9000 Aero I got 1500kr which was the scrap value. In the UK it would be worth
