Had some lovely mint tea earlier- helps to minimise the beer smell when dealling with the public.

Had a few people stop by this afternoon, so not technically drinking alone. Getting towards the point in my consumption where stories about Dr. Ford and Nigel's game-shooting holiday at the hunting lodge of Yuri Dolgorukiy seem like a good idea, so will try to log off before we go down that road. English language becoming cumbersome, fingers like lead.

Team Östersund signing off for the day.

I was there in spirit, Gus!!!

Right, then. I'm back.

(Quiet you.)

The great difficulty posed by large scale intake of brewed drinks is the inevitable disturbance of one's sleep habits that result from having to drain the lisard. Or as our American friends like to say, "drean tha lizzardah".

Ahem.

After much thought and reflection on the topic of What is Wrong with Sweden Today, I have come to the conclusion that we, as a society, and I think that I can call us that in the general sociological sense, as opposed to the more specifically defined sense that Albert Camus used to explain the role of the individual caught up in a state of crisis, morally obligated to intervene in the affairs of the social and political constructs that he finds himself engaged with...

Wait, I've lost the plot.

Posted by: Gustav- Fælbönnran 7.Sep.2007, 01:11 AM

Back again, sorry for the delay.

Essentially, the common thread that I see running through the various public issues that we are faced with in Sweden, is that we are just Too Damn Swedish. In other words, if we were not Swedish, the challenges facing Sweden would simply disappear.

Now, I am not going to stand here and advocate wholesale change all at one go. It could be rather a sticky wicket, particularly for Mrs. Andersson over at Storgatan 21, who is rather fond of ABBA. However, as a sop to our critics, I am advocating that we begin to transition to a more generic, less Swedish culture in manageable stages, with benchmarks for accountability purposes.

Firstly, I suggest that we all forego the use of the Swedish Language, as it tends to put foreigners off. Instead, we should begin to use the one true international language: Esperanto.

What? Haven't heard of Esperanto. Look, I haven't all day to explain these things to you. Google it yourselves. Or ask Streja.

So from now on, I will only be submitting my posts to you in Esperanto, as an example of formerly-but-no longer Swedish values in action.

Too much ale I'm off to bed, finish the story in the morning.
