The trap is called socialism, the law that controls rent levels needs to be removed.

Rent control isn’t socialism, idiot.

If affordable housing is so scarce...why aren't the streets of Sweden crowded with the homeless sleeping on them...Where are the people who cannot find affordable housing living???

It’s not about affordable housing, it’s about stable housing, idiot.

In addition to the very large market of people swapping 1st-hand contracts, where landlords agree to switch the 1st-hand contracts between 2-parties who wish to "swap&quo ... (show full quote)

In order for that to happen both parties need existing first hand contracts. And that is the problem being discussed here... not being able to get first hand contracts....

Been in that situation and met people in the same situation who were immigrants and the housing companies made their lives difficult and putting obstacles to swap first hand.

Here in sweden they don't tell you not even 1% of what's actually happening regarding rental market both 1st hand and second hand.

If the world knew the daily reality of the rental market... but sweden is lucky to be protected by international criticism. They only show the PR about sweden is amazing but don't say a thing about the trap of the second hand market.

Örebro is a city with 117,543 inhabitants

Eight out of twelve municipalities in the county have too few homes

QUOTE
There are too few homes in our municipalities, according to Boverket's annual survey. It is worst in the metropolitan regions and higher education municipalities, such as Örebro. But even in the smaller municipalities there is a housing shortage.

QUOTE
In Sweden, there is a shortage of housing in 240 of 290 municipalities. In Örebro county there is a deficit in eight of our twelve municipalities.

QUOTE
The newspaper Home & rent has reviewed the statistics from the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning and found that five of the county's twelve municipalities, even if three years, expect to have a deficit.

QUOTE
In 59 of the country's municipalities, a single new apartment is not expected to be built within a three-year period, according to Hem & rent .

QUOTE
The Swedish Housing Agency's survey also shows that it is difficult for new arrivals to obtain housing. 76 percent of the country's municipalities do not have enough apartments for new arrivals.

QUOTE
The type of housing that is most in demand is rental apartments and, above all, larger apartments. The municipalities state that the main obstacle to balance is high production costs and that private individuals cannot afford the housing.

Sweden is lucky that no one really gives a shit about them other than a glossed over glance. Sweden uses this to put a shiny, thin, plastic coating on for the world to see while they are rotting inside.

Not like it’s going to make a difference but kudos to you for just putting out source after source.

At first I worried about your well being but I believe you said this is a form of venting for you.

Take care pep!

Thanks for the support.

Actually I think speaking my mind have taken me out of the system. I cannot tell you here but as you know in sweden big brother is always watching.

Yes, I need to vent it because it's big elephant in the room and trust me it can kick you out of sweden, I met people who left sweden because they were moving every 6 months and couldn't keep up with that kind of life. I posted all the links so people can see the extent of the problem but real life is even more stressful. Sweden does not deserve all the medals and recognition as a superior country. It's really unfair how they are in the spotlight without having done anything for anybody. Because sweden keeps the rental market quiet from international news and that speaks volumes about their true transparency which is NONE!.

I still have to hear comments even from people of my own country saying that sweden is a paradise and they are so much better and evolved than us. Crazy stuff. swedish pr abroad is powerful and it can mislead the people who had never lived in sweden.

I am glad that I had the chance to live in sweden. I would never have seen the real sweden unless I hadn't moved in. I have learnt a lot and my country while far from perfect is not as terrible as even media portrays us.

It's a misery for us grown up in sweden also. Too many immigrants.. I don't like it. And im not a racist. But they can take cover here until their wars are over and then they can go back and rebuild their countries.. Then leave us more apartments. It's too many today. It's like 3 million immigrants today i think. Thats allot. Dont know how many apartments but a million maybe that could be free? I have no idea..
