I am planning to hire a cottage or apartment for a week from airBnB site in Swiss this summer.

Just wondering how safe is it?

any experiences..?

I dont know about how it is specifically in Switzerland, but AirBnB is a global site and they care about the hosts / guests the same everywhere.

A few people i know have used them and i am using them this summer in the other side of the world.

The host required full prepayment so i paid it all to AirBnB and they keep the money until the day after you have checked in your accomodation. This way, in case of problems, Air BnB is there to help. The host wouldn't have touched your money untill you have checked in.

I havent travelled yet, but once i do i can update (end of july). Its important with the ratings but the place i am staying on had no ratings because they havent offered the property for rent for long, and the ratings have started to arrive now - awesome ratings by the way.

I am a well travelled person, i have worked in tourism all my life and i know that if you follow all their instructions i.e never sending money through western union and so on, you will be fine.

I trust them and i could reccomend them, so far the service has been great.

Thanks for feedback...

What will happen if the host cancels couple of days before my visit? How it works in that case?

Well i dont know that. I am sure it says on the website, or you can call them and ask. They have everything in their page.
