The only to get out of the mess Sweden is in, is to stop tax payers funding political parties as else where. then the minnow parties will disappear.

Actually, I prefer this system over only the rich or well connected (to special interest groups) being able to run for office. There are too many elitist snobs who are not in touch with the common man and who are in the pocket of their benefactors in politics now.

Money buys you power!

The Australian Prime Minister announced 200-odd million for some irrigation works to sure up ONE vote [Bob Katter the North Queensland NUTTER!]. The irrigation works will probably only benefit a few marginally economic farms or give the benefits to large corporate farms!

But Katter's vote gives the minority government a one vote majority in case it's ability to govern were ever tested on the floor of the Lower House.

See, money does buy you power.

The Liberals and Centrists voted against their own candidate for Prime Minister. Today is the death of the Alliance block and probably Folkpartiet (the Liberals) as well. After watching the debate before the vote it seems that most party leaders in Sweden are more concerned with blocking Sverigedemokraterna than putting through the manifesto they went to the polls with.

I’m not sure what’s going on in the head of Lööf and Björklund. The two alternatives they want either don’t add up mathematically or have been completely rejected by KD and M. The only alternative left to them is to sit in a government with S and MP with support from V and given they’ve basically spoken about V in the same context as SD I’m not sure how they can agree to that. I honestly don’t see what the thinking is.

What makes me laugh is when Jan Björklund says

"Today's vote is about something more and something bigger. There's a rising tide of right-wing nationalism in the western world, which is a counter reaction to globalization".

Is he frightened to say that forbidden word "Immigration".

It´s not just SD. Nobody will talk with V either. The other day Annie (i´m in favour of bigamy) stated that everything will be ok as there are 6 parties that can build a governement. Democracy, like hell. Ignoring 1,300,000 voters.

As long as they refuse to talk with SD (also idiots) the country will be in even more chaos especially if the Allians cooperates with MP.

The problem is that even with an extra election, nothing will change

What frightens me most, is that the people that will run the country are a bunch of ego trippers not giving a shit about the population, only themselves

Every Party had a representative make a speech before the vote and nearly all of them made a speech about SD/nationalism/Conservatism. None of them care about what their voters want. When people voted for Centerpartiet or Liberalerna they did so because they wanted the country to be governed with centre-right policies. Those two parties have now turned it into SD taking more priority over delivering their manifesto to their voters.

So is the next move a government fronted by lofven with support from the left parties and the couple of right wing parties who split from the alliance? Would be a lot of talking required to reach any decisions in that case!

If he wants to include the two liberal/centrist parties he won’t be able to include Vänsterpartiet because Liberalerna and Centerpartiet have said Vänsterpartiet shouldn’t be allowed to have any influence (just like Sverigedemokraterna). A government of S+MP+C+L would have 167 mandates which isn’t enough for a majority and they’d be reliant on Vänsterpartiet abstaining in any votes. Whether they would do that or not is hard to say. On the one hand they’d prefer a socialist type government but on the other hand abstaining and allowing Centerpartiet and Liberalerna to form a new coalition with Socialdemokraterna and Miljöpartiet would be the end of Vänsterpartiet in the immediate future. They’ll never have any influence while Centerpartiet and Liberalerna are part of a socialist block.

It's all a bit of a mess really, isn't it?

How about the speaker abolishing all the old parties, creating two new ones ("Left" and "Right") then getting the MPs to cast a single vote on which party to join. Then run a new election and you're sure of a winner.

How about introducing a democracy in Sweden where electors could cast their vote in secret.

It would be interesting to see how democracy would change Sweden. The current governing by consensus, and public shaming of people with opinion outside the consensus, is a fun show to watch.

It seems that the politicians are only interested in each other, rather than presenting and espousing new ideas meant to to improve the lives of the electorate, they just want to destroy the opposition in any way they can...

Over here politicians have resorted to name calling of those that vote for another party, rather than promote ideas that would take voters away from their opposition and favour them...That is a bit too much in my opinion...

However I can as a "deplorable" I found a way to get back...I voted for Trump!!! laugh.gif

European Army...Anyone???
