Hello, I am moving to Umeå on Thursday and it would be great to know of any other people from the UK who currently live there? It would be great to know some people there as I move and to speak too about everything! Thanks, Jamie!

Welcome to the middle of nowhere. Best part of the country. There's a large English speaking community in Umeå, mostly linked to the university. Hopefully a number of them who are on this forum site can give you the specific meet-up details.

Umeå is lovely. I really enjoyed my 2 years there, I'll be back in the summer for a couple of months then onwards to luleå. Let me know if you fancy a pint.
There's a fairly sizable english community there, think they usually end up drinking at the bishop arms, once a month or something.

Once you start SFI too you'll meet some english speaking people there too.

Hi Guys,

I've been in Ume? for about 1.5 years now. Would be great to meet up with some of you for a pint and a chat! I never knew there were so many British people here...

I'm a geologist - I work in Africa, but I'm here a lot at the moment. Have a fianc?e and kid here so I don't get out much.

Sam

There's 50 of us?! I've only seen about 3 the entire 2yrs i've been here, though I must say ive been avoiding anyone English in an effort to 'become more Swedish'.
Its funny that you say we all hang out at the Bishops, kind of reinforces our stereotype of avoiding local culture and hanging around in familiar pubs when abroad tongue.gif I prefer the Pipes or Lottas myself...

Been there in and out since 2011.. and can honestly say I have only ever met 2 others from the UK.. a Brummie (Wolves I think to be more precise) and a Scot.

Trying to emigrate but first need to find a job as a n?tverktekniker or n?tverk administrat?r, and I have ran out of money to do anymore online SFI courses.
