Maybe they don't congregate - or don't want to ?

Socially, I have only really been to places with Swedish colleagues.

Lund: Gloria's (in summer) and that Rauhrackel Bierkeller place, bit pricy though.
I have had a good noodles/curry snack at Apple Cafe (or whatever it's called) opposite the Lund Domkyrka

I might drop into Wayne's Coffee near the Malmö Cervera shop this Sunday afternoon.

I think some English-speaking people go to that Irish theme pub near Lilla torg, there's somewhere in Malmö that has a pub quiz night on Wednesdays, don't know if that's it.

I have noticed a few interesting looking places but have not really felt the urge to spend 250+ kr on myself for no particular reason ... there is that Green Mango near Möllevängen, is that any good, at a reasonable price ?

Also a restaurant in the Mazetti building near the theatre school, but have not got around to trying it.

Have had nice grub in Ystad and Kristianstad travelling on my Jojo Sommar card last year !

But I'm not a super-socialite (chorus of "no bloody wonder") and probably not a typical expat since I have a UK home, and only been here a short time

Back to you ! Presume you have a car - or a super zone Jojo period card ...

PS no space or hyphen in "expatriates" - just to annoy you !!
PPS you didn't suggest any decent Malmö (or Lund since I note you are near there) chippies ! if there are any, of course

The Owner of the Kvinnaböske Krog on Bjärehalvön who is a Kiwi is hoping to start up a English speaking evening once a month. There's quite a few British, Irish and Americans living here. They have a locals evening on the last Wednesday of the month which a few English speakers go to.

This whole idea of finding expats at bars who you can become friendly with, and possibly establish more permanent relationships seems like just a throwback to a bygone age.

When I was growing up, and started working, there were bars, especially around university towns, were one could go for a drink and conversation. One also didn't have enough money, or good enough digs to invite them over for a drink for fear that you would lose out in the process.

Bars and pubs were recreational establishments for the hand-to-mouth Anglo-American society in the immediate post-war period.

Now they can pretty much only be found in big cities, and university towns. I know of no such place here in Lidingö which has a population of 50,000. There are a few in Stockholm, the haunts of the expected expat crowd, as we all well know.

Thanks for that.

I have a few friends from Belfast, Donegal and Glasgow moving here this year. They will find those groups useful.

Nope. Just looking for info, for some future ex-pats.

If you are looking for something on heat, I suggest you goto a zoo.

Just because you can't get a date due to your inadequencies, does not mean the rest of us can't.

Nem, I find it really strange that some men (some!) always find a way to comment on a woman's sexuality whenever she is asking about anything, completely unrelated to sex.

Next time byke and plowbridge ask where the Tudor Arms is I am going to ask them if they feel the need for cock.

But surely Streja you are aware of that research that suggests that the typical man of age X thinks about sex every Y seconds ?!

Nem, are these new immigrants the casualties from the demise of the Celtic Tiger ? In which case I guess they will be ex-pats ;-)

PS am currently in that Apple place in Lund and can overhear some people talking American ...

The research on women is wrong.

Most people have manners though and can use self control and not post shit about someone because she is a woman.

Freja, that doesn't really make sense. Why cock?

Or if you're drawing a a direct comparison then you're inferring Nemesis would be looking for fanny (if she was on heat, like a dog).
(Which she may or may not be)
(on heat I mean, not a dog)
