So weird. Let us see in 2 months when everyone is back from holidays. It seems that MV is increasing the waiting times for everyone regardless what are you applying for. (tourist visa is the only exception)

Tack! Anyone know how long it takes to get registered with skatteverket??? I guess I can't apply for a passport until it's registered there...

I went to the police the next day, they didn't find me in the system but they made a copy of the certificate and that was that. :-) No need to wait.

Hi,
I have a question, I will be eligible to apply for citizenship in January 2018 after 8 years being in Sweden, Student+work permit. My question is since the waiting time now is 16-18 months. Shall I apply around 13-14 months in advance? As I understood from cases in Domstol, they have to count the years from the day they decide about the case. Is it possible that they reject me, like 2 months after I apply? Or they definitely put me in the long queue, which is good for me since I will be eligible till they consider my application!

Thanks,

From observation, I think they will reject your application because it is usually sorted and analyzed after submission. So if you have not met the criteria by the time you made the submission, then they is every chance it will be rejected -which leaves you with not chance to win it even if you appeal against the rejection.

But if you don't mind parting with the fees after being rejected, then you can give it a try. With that, you have nothing to lose but everything to gain ,if it works out for you.

You can give it a try, at least someone (hsynkrhsn) tried it before and it worked.

13-14 months is too much, don't risk it. Lots of things might change in 13 months!

There were these two immigrants from Xyland living in Sweden next door to each other as good friends for several years. Then one day, one of them decides to take out Swedish citizenship.
On the day his papers come through his letterbox, pronouncing him a Swede, he takes a big drink to celebrate, before going out and knocking on his neighbour’s door.
Opening the door, his neighbour showed pleasure at the caller being his friend. The smile was soon wiped off his face when his friend greeted him with “Jäävla uuutlänning.” - - - - - - .
