I live in the States and I've got great insurance from my employer, but even the greatest insurance does not cover everything. My insurance company just said they won't cover the new medicine that my doctor just prescribed me because it's not generic. They are telling my doctor to prescribe something else and something cheaper. In a way this is the insurance company telling the doctor how to treat a patient. I've tried different generic medicine and they didn't work for me. I got sick and it raised my heart rate. The non-generic medicine is working well, so now the doctor and I will have to fight the insurance company on appeals and all kinds of stuff to get my new medicine covered. Luckily the insurance company covered some of my other meds, but I looked and saw that if I hadn't had prescription/medical insurance, I would have had to shell out $300 dollars for my meds instead of the $46 bucks. That little $250 dollars in prescription help from the government won't go far.

How does prescriptions work in Sweden? Who pays for those? Just curious because I don't know.

I also had to go to the ER recently, I spent 2 hours in there and it cost me $1,900 dollars. The insurance kicked in $1,800 dollars and I had to pay $100 dollars. I'm glad my insurance covered that, but almost $1,000 dollars an hour at a hospital, that's insane! I really do feel for people who don't have health insurance coverage. I also feel for those people who lose their insurance because of a variety of reasons. I also think it's outrageous that people can go bankrupt in America because they can't pay their medical bills.

As for the health care debate I don't know enough about it, I'm just telling you my story.

If you can't pay attention to speed limit signs you shouldn't be driving. At least people try to adhere to the speed limit, not like Italy where they are just suggestion markers. smile.gif

I still think the savory tart and trombone story is the best piece of Swedish police work.

I really feel for you man. If you have the legal documents from the komun defining your property, don't think there's anything they can do. If they tear up your posts have them arrested for destruction of private property and trespassing.

I've often wondered what is so bad about swearing, considering that a lot of people do it, and it's one of the first things people learn while trying to learn a new language? How many of you learning Swedish didn't get introduced to the Swedish swear words before the more formal words?

For Christians I think there's something in the Bible about modesty and cursing, etc. So swearing could be taboo because of religious reasons. But what about other cultures that are not Christian or perhaps not religious? Is swearing acceptable in those cultures, or is there perhaps no swearing at all?

Do aborigines in Australia swear? Eskimos in the north? I don't know, but I'm sure they do. Is swearing a natural instinct or something deeply ingrained in our psyche? Even the most modest fellow bites his tongue while stubbing his toe in the doorway.

Why is swearing frowned upon in "polite society?" And why do we take particular delight when people do curse, or find it amusing that certain stereotypes seem to gain credibility while swearing, like drill instructors or sailors?

Any ideas, folks?

OMG, at first I thought they were running away from zombies or the Cloverfield monster. That's pretty scary, but I doubt it will make people think about teenage pregnancy. Afterall, you can't get pregnant if it's your first time, right? angry.gif

Once again Swedish police have their priorities straight. After solving the trombone and savory tart caper, and the illegal bicycle riders, they decided to go after the pee people. Heaven forbid they should go after some real criminal elements.

Oh no, he shouldn't try marijuana. It's a gateway drug and he'll be a heroin addict in no time. He'll probably also become a father and get HIV. Not only that, his habit will fuel drug violence, chaos, and death. He should be shown those old commercials with the cast iron skillet and the egg. This is your brain, this is your brain on drugs!

That was actually pretty good and sums things up. The vast majority of people use abortion responsibly smile.gif

I just find it amazing that the guy had previously been convicted of the same offense, including doing it to a child. 4 years for that? Ridiculous. The guy should be in for life with that prior record, not 7 years.

Really, were you there in Mississippi and Florida, Texas? How about Iowa? Plenty of suffering all around, the people are still recovering in parts of Iowa. Sadly most people got their faux news from media outlets that didn't know what they were reporting. The situation was nowhere near as bad as the media outlets were reporting, no mass rapes, no snipers, etc. Of course disasters will always hit poor people the worst, and let's face it, Louisiana is one of the poorest states, and comparing it to Iowa and its rural social network is lame. Of course FEMA was pretty quick to respond to tornadoes and disasters in Midwest states, so I can't speak for that. Depends upon who is governor and what they are willing to do and ask for.

States rights is all well and good until you've got a lot of your people standing in knee-deep flood waters and human excrement; hungry, tired and angry. Where are the troops? Where is the federal government? Sorry, we can't do anything because we are not allowed to by your governor. Get over the Civil War already.

What's the definition of a "masculine" man? Somebody who neglects his kids, hits his woman, gets drunk every night, sleeps around? Basically Detective McNulty on The Wire.

Shame on all you people for attacking Editor Bob. I for one completely agree with him. All he demands is a bit of loyalty and respect. Get with the program!! It's a brave new world and those who are not with us are against us. I will support and defend the Great Editor to the death. He is incapable of indiscretion and is above reproach. The fact that he even replies to you mere mortals is a testament to his fine and benevolent nature. A lesser Editor would just make changes without offering an explanation.

Onwards Great Editor! To victory! Soon we will whip these schoolyard pranksters wannabe gangsters into shape, and can enjoy perfectly edited posts.
