Hi guys,

I am a South African Citizen/ Resident. My Girlfriend is a Swedish national living in Stockholm. recently we decided that although we love it in SA it makes more sense for us to live in Sweden.

I am not looking for a Job in Sweden as I am a furniture designer for a company located in SA that i own 35%. So for me working remotely would not be an issue. the issue is whether i would be eligible for a residency permit as it stands now since there is a tax treaty between South Africa and Sweden or Would i have to start a new company in Sweden that would then own my percentage of the company and act as a holding company.

Added benefits of relocating to Sweden is we do intend to start shipping our furniture to Europe and the UK and so it would be useful to setup a base of operations there.

I know this is a very specific question so if no one has the info then can someone direct me to an immigration specialist or tax advisor in Sweden or would it be best to contact the Swedish Immigration Agency.

35 percent does not meet the requirements for a self-employed residence permit:

Okay yes i understand that it wouldn't be an option as i don't have 50% ownership however would it be possible for my current company to send me as part of our expansion or would it possibly be acceptable to start up a Aktiebolag that will own my percentage of the current company through which i would do design development. I have looked at migrationsverket.se alot recently but haven't found any information for this specific situation. i see the immigration agency has a contact us, do they have a consultants that can assist in this information?
