I am not a financial advisor but I would take variable for now, base interest rates are unlikely to rise within the next 18months. But then change to a fix rate when the rates start going up.

QUOTE (mjennin2 @ 9.Jan.2018, 09:18 AM) *
Joyful, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but applicants who apply from within as in your case, typically wait around 2 years. You can get a lot more info from people in your same situation in the "inifr?n" group on Facebook. Here's the link: https://m.facebook.com/groups/1216495531752732

I think most couples get called in for an interview around the 18-22 month mark, and then the decision comes very shortly thereafter. Although I have read recent cases of some applicants even waiting as long as 27-32 months. I think it also depends on which enhet your case is assigned to. The inifr?n queue/process differs significantly from those who apply utifr?n.

Best of luck <3

Indeed the guidelines are somewhere there. I did this route some years ago, then the guideline was also 20 months but I had a decision 2 months after my current permit had expired.
Expect to wait long but as you see around here, waiting times are almost a lottery.

See many threads on the inadvisability of living on one salary...this ain't Switzerland...

Totally possible to do this, of course it depends on where you live. We live in Stockholm and have done that several times (parental leave/studies, etc)

Many banks in Sweden take the piss, and step well beyond the boundaries. Asking questions such as political interests etc.

Unfortunately, most Swedes comply with anything that is asked.
And so it creates a precedence of customer abuse.

No, only a residence permit allows you to re-enter Sweden.

If you are resident in Sweden then all worldwide income is taxable and should be reported.
Anything else is illegal.

I had a meeting with my company bank manager at SEB today, they are waiting for the property crash. One factoid, only 10% of of new build apartments are occupied by the original buyer - 90% are simply bought for speculation.

I wouldn't say 90% was speculation. We didn't buy ours for speculation, we just moved after a few years to something bigger. I was in my brf styrelse and in the years I was there, less than 30% of the owners moved houses. That said there is a lot of speculation and this is a sign the market is overheated.

Hello,

Quick question, after you visit MV office, give fingerprints photo and blood, how much time it takes until they send you that piece of plastic that worth so much? I will be travelling to US in 9 days and I would prefer to get that card before I leave the country since I really don't feel like explaining to the police at the Swedish boarder that I actually have the permit in Sweden and pulling out 8472628 papers to prove it (yeah most of you know what I'm talking about). How long have you been waiting for uppeh?llstillst?nd kort?

You won't be allowed to board in the USA unless you have visa-free access to Sweden.

The card should take around a week. Next time you apply for a permit, do the biometrics as soon as you apply, then the card will show up as soon as a decision is made.

This is not a glass ceiling per say. All countries have jobs that require citizenship. They are often jobs related to government and national security.

It depends on the job, some positions require Swedish citizenship. Maybe they have contracts with the government or the military.
