Hello,
I'm an 18 year old and clueless about the mining industry in Sweden.
The only thing I heard about that it destroys your body but earns a lot of money.
What kinda jobs are there in the mining industry? Any degrees needed to apply for a job? And how is the job, is it boring or just the total opposite?
Anyone with experiences that might share it?
Kind regards
Maurice Maenhout
Oh, come all you young fellers, young and so fine
Seek not your fortune in the dark dreary mine
It'll form as a habit and seep in your soul
'Till the stream of your blood runs as black as the coal
Where it's dark as a dungeon, damp as the dew
Danger is double, pleasures are few
Where the rain never falls, the sun never shines
It's dark as a dungeon way down in the mine
That last line stirs up some memories, but for the life of me I cannot recall from where. Who was the poet, and from whence did he come?
That last line . . . . ??
I'll give you the song:

It's by Johnny Cash...Written by Merle Travis...
Com'n guys haha showing up with poems that describes a mining industry from the last century, I've looked up nowadays a mine is completely different then what it used to be.
Is it really different???
Mining, anywhere is dangerous...
It is still a long way underground, the galleries are never very high. There is always the risk of either an explosion or a cave-in, and people still die down there. That has NOT changed, despite any improvement in technology.
So in truth - what more so you expect? A cushy ride??
