Hi I wonder what are the ways to report, complain about a bad landlord and warn others (besides the police)? The landlord harasses, abuses and even blackmail tenants. The landlord rents in a public housing apartment and then sublet.

Cool. What is this site about?
If the landlord steals items from tenant and won't return, will the police do something about it regardless of the value of the items?

Ring the police and contact the owners. Unfortunately you will probably end up homeless by doing this but he will also lose the property

Yes, contact the owners/organization that owns the building.

Depending on what is stolen... call the police.

How can they be subletting their rented apartment while still in the area? I assume they are in area if stealing from you, op, and harassing you. There are strict rules for legally subletting a first hand contract in Sweden.

I agree with fox that you will most likely lose your place since the place should be taken away from the one subletting to you... maybe if you talk to owners of building and explain the situation you could potentially take over the first hand rental agreement... you probably pay more than market price for sublet so see if you can sweeten the deal by continuing to pay what you do now.

Good luck. Come back and tell what happens...

Hi what can the owner do about it, only that the landloard can't sublet his first hand contract? What else?

I already moved out because the due date has come.
How to find out the owner and contact info?

Well, you already moved out so not much. You are confusing everyone by referring to the person subletting as a landlord.

In order for someone to sublet their apartment they need approval from the organization that owns the building. If you are still in the area then look around the building or buildings, most likely, and there will be a sign for who owns building, Poseidon, riksbyggen, familjebostaden... for example in the gbg area... don’t know where you are but those company names are visible on and around their buildings.

Since you are able to use the computer I would suggest typing in your former address and see what comes up. If it is public housing then you will most likely see what organization... then look up contact info, google, that org and explain to them. But it seems like wasted energy trying to get revenge on this person.

As I mentioned before, you won’t be able to do much since you are already gone.

Do you even know for sure if the person subletting to you rented or owned the flat, a condominium, as part of a collective?

I would move on. You aren’t doing anyone a favor by “warning” them about this individual because they won’t be able to sublet over and over again. And since you don’t say what they stole from you, and that going to the police didn’t occur to you before, I would drop that as well and... move on. Sorry, but that, to me, seems like the best thing to do.

Ok I will check it out and find out the owner! The case has been reported to the police. It is not called revenge, it is called making myself feel good/better. It is not wasted energy if you wouldn't feel happy for not doing it.
