Maybe too understated. Something like this would likely be more effective:

And then, a courtesy bowl of miniature toothpaste tubes and colourful toothbrushes might just get him into the spirit.

That, or, just strongly disagree with him, about something, anything, and he will simply clear off passive-aggressively for fear confrontation. And no, he is NOT happy to see you...that is just his fist in his pocket (or quite possibly, a quick game of pocket pool).

I thought about discussing it on a Monday meeting that we have every week. I can't work with this sulphuric acid sitting next to me.

Offer him a chewing gum or mints? Or just hold your breath every time he's talking to you.

Honey, that's what I did. Otherwise I would have fainted from the stench. My eyes started watering when I was in his vicinity.

p.s. Maybe you could get a refund from work for the mints. If they ask questions just send your colleague to them.

It is not an easy problem.

As Rex said, offer a mint (not everyday) or try bringing up a subject like "My ex needed a root filling, her breath was aweful", obviously in a more tactful way.

I hope you find a way to solve this.

No, honey, you're right, it's not an easy one. Not even an hour of jet-fuel sniffing would subdue that smell.
