Hey All,

Am thinking about starting an NGO in Sweden with the aim of helping youths in Africa. I would be grateful if any could furnish me with information on the procedures.

You can contact with Bolagsverket, email is bolagsverket@bolagsverket.se, web http://bolagsverket.se,
Ph: 060-18 40 00.
Actually they are authority to register a company, although you want to open a NGO. But I think you can find answer of your query from them.

You may want to check out what other organisations are already working in the field. There are quite a lot of organisations - you would also need to speak to the tax office as there are special rules for charitable organisations

Most government money goes via SIDA - the Swedish development agency http://www.sida.se/sida/jsp/sida.jsp?d=121...;language=en_US

There are also many charities such as:
Rädda barnen http://www.rb.se/eng/
Plan Internationa http://www.plansverige.se/
Röda Korset http://www.redcross.se/
Lutherhjälpen (Swedish Church) http://lutherhjalpen.svenskakyrkan.se/variant_engelska.asp
Erikshjälpen http://www.erikshjalpen.se/view.php?katid=36
and many more...
