Hi! I'm a professional cellist with 20+ years of experience teaching and performing. I have experience teaching all ages and levels, so everyone is welcome!

I hold a BM from San Francisco State, an MM from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an Artist Diploma from Brandeis University, plus I am certified in books 1 through 10 of the Suzuki method. I am a graduate of the Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts, and I also attended the San Francisco School of the Arts and the San Francisco Conservatory preparatory division. While at San Francisco State University, I studied with the members of the Alexander String Quartet. My primary teachers were students of Janos Starker, Aldo Parisot, Pierre Fournier, and Margaret Rowell, among others. My strongest influence comes from Irene Sharp, to whom hundreds of cellists in the major orchestras all over the world owe a debt of gratitude for her fine teaching.

While still a student at the University of Illinois, I served as a teaching assistant, teaching private cello lessons to a full studio of students. One thing that I have learned in all my years of teaching is that no two students are the same, so I do my best to assess what each individual student needs and tailor their lessons accordingly. I can provide a list of references if necessary. Lessons take place in my studio.

While I am mainly a cellist, I also play and teach piano. I began my musical education with piano lessons at the age of 7. My early studies were as a Suzuki student of Carolyn Silva. Later studies were with Laura Melton and Jerri Witt, instructors at the Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts and the San Francisco Conservatory, respectively. Piano lessons are available at the beginning and intermediate levels.

Thank you for checking out my ad, and I hope to hear from you soon!
