I only had turkey sandwiches today but tomorrow i will have roast chicken, roast pots, paxo, yorkshire pudding and mint sauce on the everything apart from the chicken. What i do love is marrrowfat processed peas. I bought dry ones today and i will try do do it myself for tomorrow. Any tips appreciated
Last night we had R
Am in England until Christmas so making the most of it we will have sausage plait tonight. I bought a Delia cookbook today purely because it had a sausagemeat recipe in it and it's the thing I miss the most when in Sweden!
Last night we had turkey and gravy over mashed potatoes. Yum yum. Not sure about tonight.
Pulled pork nachos with guac.
It was supposed to be roast chicken today but will a no no. Already had a Birthday cake (misses is 50), home made mini pizzas and tonight by request, home made meat balls, lingon sylt, mashed potatoes, brown sauce etc and alot of booze (so please ignore all my comments after 8pm)
Whatever my girlfriend makes...and...I will like it!!!
Happy birthday to Mrs. Fox and, yes to Rick, we have lots of turkey left over. 18 pounder, home raised and go-o-o-o-d. However, the weather is so nice here that I may take a break from the turkey and grill out tonight. 40 F ( 4.4444 C) and sunny. Lots better than last year at this time.
We had my home made spicy veggie soup today quick and easy as I made loads lsr week, so just need reheating from the freezer. Wondering what to have for Sunday when son, partner and barnbarn come around. My son is able to eat a horse it it was put on a plate in front of him. The granddaughter wants either pasta or pancakes.
"My son is able to eat a horse it it was put on a plate in front of him."
Just be glad you're not paying his grocery bill.
Not a horse but chicken a la king with rice. Easy one pot meal that will satisfy my son ( hopefully)
Let's keep this thread alive!
I am thinking of having an alternative to turkey for Christmas, I am feed up of endless turkey leftover dinners.
Anybody got any great ideas?
Prime rib is always nice.
Goose is nicer!!!
I thought you were still ploughing through that 50lb of left over turkey. Enough to last you for Christmas and loads more until next thanksgiving. I was thinking of venison, but my usual supplier said that during last weekends hunt, Rudolf managed to get away yet again.
We're having turkey - I'd quite like goose or guinea fowl instead though.
There was a Chinese chef on BBC 1 this afternoon who did quail. Looked good but you would need one for every person and 2 for my son!!!
Last night i had chicken again but this time i mixed 500g creme fraiche, broccoli (already boiled), grated cheddar cheese, salt and white pepper. I then poured it over the chichen breast fillets and in the oven. Served with jacket potatoes. It's really nice.
ps if you are a vegetarian then it's great with quorn fillets.
Today the sambo is away so I can't be bothered cooking properly - falukorv, lingonsylt and a cup of tea makes a girl happy
Perhaps later I'll go mad with a chicken breast, a tomato and some creme fraiche.
Self explanatory cooked by me

Dinner at yours then!
Breakfast: Banana and tea...
The missus is out to her monthly knitting meeting so it it is leftover veg curry from the freezer with home made chapatti rice and lashings of lime pickle. All washed down with a bottle or 2 of Newcastle Brown Ale.
I have been watching James Martins Christmas Kitchen this week. Getting some good ideas for festive food. An alternative to Roast Turkey could be a flattened breast of turkey filled with stuffing, rolled and wrapped in cling film and steamed. Or filet of venison. This could be a bit on the expensive side though at around 450kr per kilo
We had chicken kiev with charlotte potatoes and vitl
Still waiting for my dinner. Bloody hungry
How much do you people weigh???
Steak with whiskey sauce and potato gratin. It was amazing, I've got a new oven and induction cooktop so I'm in love with cooking right now.
Tonight it will be fiskgrat?ng with a sallad
Paella with chicken and chorizo
What I wouldn't give for a little ?landslimpa och sm?r med ost right now!
I had 2 tuna sandwiches, yogurt with lots of syrup!
I am making party pies and sausage rolls today!
We had a few friends around last night and did fillet of pork and bacon in a Philadelphia cheese and cream sauce. It's great for a party as you can just turn down the heat, cover with some tin foil and leave it in the oven until all are ready to eat. Even some of the kids that are fussy eaters wolfed it down. Had home made potato wedges and salad with it last night but it goes great with pasta also.
Just had the Hairy Bikers "Fluffy banana pancakes" for lunch but made with apple instead of banana and topped with defrosted blackberries and redcurrants that we had picked from our garden in the summer.
Left overs today. Can't throw good food away
Shepherd's Pie, with strawberries (from own garden & frozen) & ice cream as dessert.
Last night we had pyttipanna, squash, cole slaw and washed it down with cold apple cider. Everything was home grown except for the beef in the pyttipanna.
Seared Lax with a warm potato salad dressed with dill vinagrette.
Tasted not too shabby have to say
Beef curry, a bottle of wine and a six pack. Good night.
A strange breakfast. I actually managed to make homemade processed marrowfat peas. Really really nice. Much better than Mortons
Oatmeal, the breakfast of champions.
Champion what ? ? ?
Bangers and mash. God I'll miss this when I'm in Sweden full-time.
Looks like I'd better learn to make sausages!
449+ pages to go!!!
Beef stew
Last night was faggots <3
Tonight is steak baguettes.
Tomorrow - Julbord of course!

Turkey curry.
And more turkey.
And more turkey.

Goose...Next year???
My fourth julbord in 4 days. Left overs tomorrow. Thhank god i'm going to the UK on Monday
Bean soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Entertainment to follow.
Pork loin, potatisgrating and cabbage last night.
Tonight will be stew and birthday cake. Which I somehow have to make without gluten. And without easily bought gluten free flour.
For New Year we have had a fusion meal, a filo samosa and a goats cheese filo parcel for a starter followed by slow roast beef, roast spuds and James Martins mothers Yorkshire puds. After a pause to digest we shall have mince pies with custard and biscuits, all home made and then we shall go outside at midnight to join the neighbours for some new year fireworks and a glass of champaign. I will also have a BIG glass of a 15 year old Dalwinney single malt.
Happy New year to you all
I had a chicken soup with noodles and pizza for lunch and only a salad for supper.
Im eating oatmeal
Barbequed chicken, mashed potatoes, beans and salad with Leinenkugel beer.
BBQ, BBQ and more BBQ?
Probably sauteed shadroe, or possibly soft-shelled crabs.
No doubt dusted with self rising flour and fried in Crisco!!!
No wonder they taste so bad when one eats them out!
The worst example of your suggesting false leads.
My wife's homemade lasagna. Hot damn!
Pepperoni On Rye...
Peanut Butter/Chocolate Ice Cream...
Banana...
Tea...
Chocolate Doughnuts...
Apple Pastry...
And, I'm not done!!!
I know, I know...But you did ask!!!
Yeah, but he didn't eat his!!!
I have a strep throat and fever for a couple of days and need the "feel better junk" to feel better...I don't dare tell my girlfriend!!!
Hey M!
I like your advice...especially the last part!!!
Liquid lunch today. I will try to stay of TL just in case
Why should today be different?
Uh-Oh!!!
I'll join your Intrepidfox.
3 gluten free vasa crackers, a slice of ham and a box of chardonnay
Does "the box" have a label, or is it generic???
jush kidding *hic*
I shall be eating the leftovers from yesterday - i. e., broiled bluefish, garden grown green beans, and fresh corn (maize), plus vanilla ice cream, cut up necterine, and keibniz cookies.
Sorry to hear about your gggt grandfather, intrepid, the Adjutant to the Duke of Cumberland. He was noted for buggering all his employees!
Why not have bread and pullet - and don't 'pullet' too hard.
Yesterday my wife and I had korv and rutmas. Today we had something a little different, barbecued sweet corn and beef spare ribs. The ribs were done slowly with hickory and pecan as were the corn on the cob. Fresh from the garden tomatoes and baby potatoes.
Obviously you people don't eat much.
Later on it will be rib eye steak, rare and tomatoes...
Last night was pizza and beer. Not too nutritious but sure was fun.
Comfort food, anyone???
jag har saknar dig!
today I ate boring English food as I'm back after the summer and sulking.
Well, I made up for it today. I had half a tuna fish sandwich on whole wheat, homegrown coleslaw and watermelon for lunch.
I'm a regular fella.
Since Trump is trying so hard to become the US version of Silvio Berlusconi we are having a delicious red sauce with homemade Italian meatballs, sweet sausage on a nice 4 egg homemade pasta. Yum yum.
Rib eye steak...rare...and tomatoes...
Last night: BLTs with fresh tomatoes from the garden. And beer.
Oh man... a BLT sounds so good right now!
It's breakfast time for me right now and I'm having the usual - toasted Ezekiel bread, broccoli sprouts, thick slices of avocado, and then topped with garlic salt, olive oil drizzle, a healthy squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and a sprinkle of chili pepper. And an entire pot of black coffee all to myself See you all in the cardiac ward, shortly!
Fresh salmon, cauliflower, potatoes, peas, and the whole seasoned by some homemade rhubarb chutney. That chutney has been made to what for me is a new recipe, with hot peppers and ginger among the ingredients. Even the salmon sits up and licks its lips when the chutney jar comes into view.
Washed down with some English Ale and followed by a peach fresh from the tree in the greenhouse. And this is only Monday ! !
For brunch I had Ice cream..
Good!!!
I'm going to have some more now!!!
dinner:
oven slow cooked turkey breast with oven baked potatoes with a side of homegrown sallad* tomatoes, cucumbers and zuchini
lunch:
leberk?sse thanks to lidl finally having a german week again
breakfast:
homemade halloumi fried and some tomato slices
Think my wife is going to make her homemade chili tonight. Goes good with beer.
I must say that one can cook better meals at home far more cheaply and quickly than one can buy out except at special restaurants.
In New Haven, I really only like going out to Caifa Bravo which has wonderful salads and traditional Italian dishes at quite reasonable prices..
Tonight I shall throw something cheap together in 15 minutes.
I see...eating crow again!!!
raggmunk, with bacon, not quite the same.
Baked salmon fillet(Canadian farm raised)with dill and onions...tomatoes too...
Reminds me of the cold, canned chicken I had at Fort Dix during basic training.
"Camp Dix" was non existent during the Civil War!!!
Most everything mentioned here is far better than the bully beef cooked over a very smokey fire in the jungle, as we had back in '51 whilst on patrol in the Malayan ulu, then at night sleeping on bamboo poles to keep above ground away from the ants, under the 'protection' of a poncho cape and never knowing if or when the commies would strike. Ah - those were the days! At least my waistline was where I could see it in those days.
Lamb Vindaloo along with Buttered Chicken extra chili added,Saffron rice,Naan bread...accompanied with a few "Windhoek" lagers...
Tomorrow, looks like baked beans on toast, spread with Marmite, followed by Celery and peanut butter! *wink*
*partial to variety*
Edit:^^ We had it better in the Rhodesian bush!
Sounds great, Mzungu, wish I was there to enjoy it, though might not seek seconds for the beans and Marmit.
Reminds me of my last days of basic training at For Dix when the company was in a defensive position against a night attack. The unit was in two-man fox holes to prevent infiltrators from breeching its headquarters, and my fox hole mate was a real food hound.
After we had dug the whole while it was snowing heavily, we finally put our ponchos over the top, and lit cans of sterno to warm up a bit, and make our cans of C-rations a bit more eatable.. There were a few different meals on offer, and the canned chicken was considered the best.
As our cans were getting slightly warmer, my mate asked me what I had, and I replied, "the chicken.",
He responded quickly, "Ford, you always get the best!"
Without even thinking, I replied,"Nothing in this place is anywhere near the best, so you can have my chicken," settling for his franks and beans.
Then we sullenly ate our meals without a word in the cold and darkness.
One thing you notice is that MTF was still in his homeland 'fighting' against his own. Now that must have been hard. Were there any widgets available for heating the food in those trenches ???
No widgets, and I wasn't fighting any of my own back then.
In fact, my company mates were almost all college graduates, and we were fighting a war against our sergeants who were trying to make us "shape up" a poor AWOL guy who had just been released from the stockade. If a captain had not come by while they were putting us through rat races, there might well have been a riot.
They still let the guy who was bunking below me die while he was protesting of physical discomfort while on a forced march and despite my complaints about their treatment of him.
You should just shut up when you don't know what you are talking about.
I have only become most opposed to US governance during the last 20 years.
So that is why you are waging war against them Up widgets and at 'em.
Well I did serve abroad, against an enemy who could truly fire back, so get back to your own backyard trench.
I did serve voluntarily abroad when the US was fighting the North Koreans, so get off talking about my backyard.
You are supposed to tell us what you are eating!!!
War exploits should be another thread...
Then try getting MTF to eat crow - - - - -
Bush meat...tell you what, when I catch it!
*looking for running shoes*
Me too, at my sister's while we watch the Republican debate.
Will be studying The Trump's big head.
Not his arrogance but if it is wider than normal, another symptom of mental disorders.
Cranial capacity is an indication of intelligence...
Trump clearly wins here, as you noted,..his competitors are pea brained in comparison...
Again, stick to the subject, which is FOOD!!!
k
jag t?nker gr?nsaker och ris...
Pepparr
tacos.
On a tuesday!
Yummmmm.
Liver and kidney pie.
Left-overs.
But good, though.
(*ask me the story about Moose Turd Pie someday).
Hey!
What about moose turd pie???
Probably not a lot since my fiance is home sick and I am pregnant and in that phase where everything is making me sick. So my diet at the moment mainly consists of Milkshake and toast.
Halal meat to assimilate with our new friends arriving every day
^^
Presumable, Goat stew?
*along with dates from the head rag!*
Because i do not like religion i shall eat pig trotters, pig feet and pork scratchings tonight. If i
Beat me to it,just ate a large bacon butty...
*smothered with HP*
"No Gamla, not HB!"
Ok, but easy on the goats...
Today was glorious, a free range chicken that had spent a day in the refrig coated in my dry rub, slow barbecued at 220 degrees F for about 4 hours, boiled new red potatoes an a lovely cucumber tomato and mayonaise with fresh dill salad. I used hickory and alder for the smokey fuel. Life is good.
I hate you
Friday I am going to my wife's favorite French restaurant because a happy wife = a happy life.
Hope they have beer there.
I am going to eat sandwitches and cakes today...yummy!!!
I'm about to sit down to a very non Scandinavian meal of red beans and rice, made with some excellent Cajun andoullie and a home made focacia. Bon Appetit
Muffins and Pizza...
Slumgullion...And Vodka!!!
Last night we had barbequed ribs, red beans and au gratin potatoes. And a cold Becks beer.
Ditto post #154...With potato chips and avocado added!!!
i am a vegetarian , SE not good country for vegetarian people and also for me
Last night: chili with a toasted cheese sandwich and a slice of homemade apple pie. Yum!
Ah today was great, I browned some nice Halal pork spare ribs then added one large cut up yellow onion, two cloves of minced garlic and one lb of sour kraut with a nice sprinkle of Fennel seed. Popped into the oven at a low temp in my cast iron Dutch oven and baked it for 5 hours. For sides mashed potatoes and steamed asperagus. Washed down with a fine mug of good Lager beer. Its great not being a worshiper of some weird god that says no to meat or certain types of meat and no alcohol.
Today I'm eating falafel and hummus. Not through any dedication to the cause of vegetarianism, just because they're awfully tasty and go well with chips
A bit of what you fancy does you good!
Liquid lunch today. Sofiero 5,2%
Maybe I can combine the sex with meal. Whipped cream dearie?
Am a total cliche today, will be eating k
I am having, along with Domino, roasted rock cornish hen, cranberry sauce, boiled artichoke, and mashed potatoes, followed by butter pecan ice cream, topped with fresh raspberries, and liebniz cookies by Bahlsen, all washed down by a good Chardonnay.
Reminds me, Smitty, of the invincible French aviator in their Vietnam War who "only went down" in a Saigon brothel
Bsmith Post #165 Maybe I can combine the sex with meal. Whipped cream dearie?
OK but it might get you barred from that restaurant in the future - - - -
I'm not eating anything today, or tomorrow, or for the rest of the week. I ate another "Halv Special" at Oves before I went back home last week and now I don't fit into any of my pants.
I need a temporary gastric bypass over here guys
Spring has definitely sprung, today was glorious so I fired up the grill and did 2 thick juicy rib eye steaks and had nice bakers with sour cream and excellent asparagus. First of the season and will be doing many more. By the way my grill is not a gas grill I use strictly pure lump charcoal.
Yes, it was a glorious day here in Northern Illinois. I burned off my brush pile (which requires lengthy supervision coupled with cold beer) and then we fired up the grill and each had a juicy New York steak with potatoes and a nice salad. Then, we sat out on the deck and watched the sunset.
Doesn't get any better than that.
Often rice or potato with chicken, hard diet for fit men
Ok im not super big on instant food but since i moved to Sweden them microwave mini square pizza's from Billy's! damn i cant get enough of that Hawaiian flavor my girlfriend thinks im nuts!
My wife marinated some flanksteak last night and braised it lightly (still pink in the middle yum) and served it up with red beans and a salad. Of course, there was a Sam Adams Winter Lager to go with it. Delicious!
You got that right!
What type of food should I eat?
I can't eat now...Yuuuccchhhhhh!!!
Are you discriminating against me because of my hairy skin? You folliclephobe!
That's you!!!
Somehow I though of you as taller...
Uhhh, errrrr, you must be warm and comfy during the winter...Said brightly with a smile...
Tonight was burger and chips, home made of course. I make my burgers with 100% beef, none of the nonsense fillers the supermarkets put in. Fried from frozen so they get a good crusty outside and served in a toasted bun with slice of chorizo, a fried egg, chopped onion and some jalapeños with burger sauce. Unbeatable.
Not bad.
The only improvement I would add is to use fresh, non frozen, grass fed beef. Much more flavor and better for you. Oh, and a nice, cold beer.
Tonight I ate some fish and chips, but the best fish and chips are ofc in London, cheers
During Ramadan, only an Infidel would ask "what are you eating TODAY"
Not quite today, but yesterday we decided we needed some Swedish julbord to cheer us up, so off down to ICA I went and loaded up on meatballs, prinskorv, smoked salmon (Lidl for that one), löksill, potatoes, grädfill, beetroot salad and eggs. It probably cost three times what we normally spend on a weeknight dinner at home, but so worth it! We even had a bottle of påskmust lurking, leftover from Easter, so that provided the perfect accompaniment.
Is it wrong to have Christmas/Easter/midsummer food on a random whim at another time of year, or should these things be kept for the special occasions?
You enjoyed it so that is all that matters.
Last night we had the quintessential summer meal: hamburgers, green salad and fresh corn on the cob from the garden accompanied with a cold pilsner and blueberry ice cream for dessert.
Had Eba and Egusi soup
My wife is making home-made pizza and I am drinking beer and drooling.
Today we are eating Japanese style curry made with "Golden Curry" block from Amazon. One of the easiest to cook and also best tasting meals I know.
I had a Chipotle Steak sandwich from Tim Hortons.
Well..i have had problems with my stomach this year..am guessing it's from the drinking..
that i will stop..so my stomach can only handle liquids at the moment..i made porridge,,yes.am sleeping on that.
Steak, herring and Dewar's!!!
My wife made Shepherds Pie tonight. Oh yeah!
Just had a full English breakfast. Eggs, Back bacon from Lidl, Beef and Pork sausage home made, Hash browns from Lidl, Mushrooms, Fresh plum tomatoes, Baked beans and toast, all washed down with a large cup of PG Tips. Keeps you going all day.
For us today: Dutch mashed potatoes with kale, and the complimentary dutch smoked sausage, and gravy.
Made and ate some delicious mutabbal and fatoush for sides and then a main dish of lamb kibbeh. Last but not least, still saving for later... pistachio halweh (did not make)
Mmmm good
"Keeps you going all day"
Do you need help to walk???
