I'm boycotting the Bishops on Gustaf Adolfs Torg, Malmö. If I want to go to an English pub I'll go to the Pickwick, despite the landlord's refusal to give me a jo

The staff in the Bishops Arms in Gustav Adolfs Torg are sort of OK. However it comes across like a dentists waiting room, even though they have attempted to make it look english. The staff also remind me of dental staff. They have never been rude to me. They just come across as standoffish. For Swedes they are standard. Pickwick is a lot friendlier. I occassionally goto the Bullen to meet up with friends when doing my shopping. I find O' Leary's a bit weird. Bishops Arms overlooking the canal is OK. They seem friendly enough. |

I'm gonna be heading to Malmö or Copenhagen... |

In Lund: MeetUp Lund, Glorias, Old Bull, Bishops Arms.
Copenhagen is great. You might also like to try out Helsingborg. Hope that helps. |

I still find it interesting, that Swedish colleagues find the concept of the British village pub so fascinating and apparently novel !

Nemesis - You told me all about Lund's drinking holes in earlier threads! There is a nice bar/cafe near the Rådhus and the Tourist Info Centre... Been there a few times. I can't wait to venture into more of Copenhagen, so far all I've seen is the airport ![]() |

QUOTE all I've seen is the airport which isn't even in (or maybe on) Copenhagen proper. It was a bit worrying the first time I went since I was going past my normal stop ! And it seems to be miles past ! But going into a pastries shop there and asking for a Danish pastry would be like going into a trattoria in Italy and asking for pasta ... |

couldnt b bothered to read all the replies, but scanned it and didnt see HBG mentioned too often.
Here i would say its typically at Telegraph, Bishops (the one in town primarily vs. the one at the harbor), or the occasional Dickens in Söder. |

We usually end up in Fagens and pretty much everytime I go there I usually hear someone speaking English.
Paddys there can be also. Bishops arms near the trainstation is good since you often get English speaking business people staying in the hotel next door. Don't think I've personally ever been in Pickwicks. Though I have been in. Usually end up babbling to an English speaker around the piano man. |
