The Local _ Norrland _ Are there opportunities in the north?

Posted by: Kalamataolives 19.Nov.2016, 07:36 PM

Hej allihoppa.

So before getting to the point. I am 28, originally from Greece (if you haven't figured it out by my name) and i have been living in Sweden for 2 years and 3 months. I studied hydrogeology in Uppsala and now i am searching for work in Stockholm. I mostly want to work with drinking water, översvämning och avloppsvatten.

The future looks bleak in Stockholm for now and I heard from a lot of people that jobs in my field exist aplenty in the north just because nobody wants to go live there. Well I don't have a problem at all so I started considering that. Any opinions or suggestions?

I would like to avoid the big players like Sweco if i have to and would prefer a business with 10-200 people total. How can I find them? Is there a list somehow for water related businesses?

I have great grades and good references from multiple sources.

PS. My swedish is ok, i finished SFI with A after studying there for just 1.5 month. I am a very quick learner and i plan to speak good in the next 2-3 months.

Thanks!

Well people are certainly moving to Umeå, were I'm living, there's a bit of a lack of housing here at the moment; my flat has doubled in price since I bought it 3 years ago!

Perhaps attend a arbetsmarknadsmässa at Umeå university, though looking at the website of the one I know of, http://www.uniaden.com/ it occurred 3 months ago.

Here's a register of all the companies in Umeå, http://www.umea.se/naringsliv/branschochforetagsregister.4.79302cb411c64e781ef800022.html perhaps search VVS?
