Having just read thru’ this thread, it is amusing to see what ‘old timers’ have to say about today’s forumites, of which I am an oldie referred to by one or two, being seemingly in company with Trow.

Yes the Fish ‘n’Chip slanging match became quite a thing before it got closed by the moderators. Moderators who seem not to want me starting any new thread.

However, I did a little survey of the Fish ‘n chips war that ran for 308 entries before it was closed down. The following figures might give an indication of the extent of the war. You will no doubt recognize one or two of the names.

BritVik,

What's the point in your comment?

I cannot see how it responds to my own comment you quoted.

EDIT: you still haven't learned how to spell my name, have you?

I think that other forumites will get my meaning from this quote and the above table - - - -

Exactly! what do I think this is? a public forum for anyone... hang on...wait a second wink.gif

from the posts I have read, that little tally is so spot on... you could basically use that table for all subjects if you just change the name.

I actually got chastised for my username... apparently it was not Swedish, it is Norwegian as I was told...This was their basis for hammering me, that I apparently misspelt my username and thought it was swedish Hei instead of Hej... Hilarious... PS its Finnish just for those of the usual suspects..

Hi there heihei, in all honesty I tool you for being perhaps oriental, I hadn't thought of the Finnish side of, although I should have been aware of it, having spent quite a few holidays in Nuutajäärvi.

Out of curiosity, how did you rate the table with forumites in this thread??

It seems to me that the table indicated feminine domination of the subject. rolleyes.gif

Looking at that thread, Kingston was really pushed down and personally insulted. I can understand why he lost it, even if the c word isnt the best term to use, but they actually deserved it. He put up a topic which people just crushed and insulted

Hey FISHTANK,

I read the news here daily(the wife not so much) and sometimes I venture into DISCUSS for a glance.

Life gets busy and there are not enough hours in the day.

It is rather that Swedish "nobody likes an outsider"-mentality where everybody, who is not them, considered to be an outsider. Xenophobia, with other words. It reaches even this forum.

Isn't it ironic to find this primitive reflex on a forum of (mostly) immigrants? My guess is that those hounding out New Kids suffer from SADS (Swedish Assimilation Denial Syndrome). Those afflicted with this disorder try so hard to be Swedish that they become more xenophobic than Swedes are. The symptoms are easy to identify: disparage newcomers or apostates with epithets such as loser, moron, ignorant, nazi and the ever popular TROLL (often in caps and accompanied by several exclamation points or a cartoon filling half the page).

QUOTE (gplusa @ 2.Mar.2012, 12:34 PM) *
Oh dear. Someone is really having a miserable time in Sweden.

Hmmm, sounds like textbook example of what the shrinks call "projection."

Exactly. This is what I told them in the very beginning of my starting writing here: You may not be Swedish, but you certainly behave like such.
