Swedes trying to return home, in many cases to take care elderly parents, face the maintenance requirement, just as any foreigner.

In one case, the mother owns and lives in a 4-bedroom house, but the daughter can't live in it, because MV claims the 4-bedroom house isn't enough for 2 people.

Swelogic at its finest. It's like once someone escapes the prison and breaks the robot mould, the Meatballian state declares them an enemy.

Now that's the Meatballia I remember! Expat, f'off. Undocumented, uneducated asylum seeker, who will never work or pay taxes and is likely to lead a ghetto crime life, welcome.

The Migration Agency stipulates that a returning Swede who wants to bring a foreign partner home with them must prove that he or she is resident on his or her own, in an apartment or house with an own entrance, kitchen and bathroom. This excludes all kinds of house and apartment shares.

Individualism enshrined in the law. The very idea of families living together is considered nearly illegal. Bizarre. Imagine trying that law on in Italy.

Hey Gobshite, you could try reflecting the article in an honest and accurate way.

The returning Swede wanted to bring his foreign wife in with him and there are rules in place for a reason.

Now you are resorting to lying to moan about the country and even dredging up old articles.

"Another parent, a young Swedish mother based in California, was denied a residence permit because she couldn't fulfil the housing clause. Her mother owns a large house in Sweden with four bedrooms and lives on her own, but that wasn't enough for Swedish authorities. The young mother had also been told to leave her partner in the US and travel alone to Sweden with their child."

""You know, it took two weeks for Canada to give me the seal of approval 25 years ago. It would be nice if one's own home country was as welcoming...""

Where were you from again? Do you try to miss the point or does it just happen naturally?

Would you like me to tell you how long it took a friend of mine to be able to move to Canada with his Canadian wife of 15 years from London? Or how he had to be sponsored and not work for 2 years? Kinda retarded.
