I believe I can sort of straighten out that question mark for you, Badger...

I saw in another thread, some personality test whatever, that seegodkai was writing an essay on the propertization of privacy, due today...

Guess that was part of the essay posted above.

Looks good to me, but what do I know, I have no clue... Lots of fancy words, I need a dictionary!

Thinking I should ask hubby about this one, really - I see it's an American essay, and he would be able to tell me more about the amendments mentioned and so on.

Oh well, "I might, rabbit, I might"... laugh.gif

For now, I'm going back to watching Steve Irwin wrestle crocs on Animal Planet! Crikey, he sure was enthusiastic about his work!!!

Rocky: SHUT UP!
Bugs Bunny: Shut u-up? Why certainly! You don't think I'm the type that would keep on blabbin'? Some people never know when to stop. When I'm told to shut up, I shut up...
Rocky: [sticks gun in Bugs's face] Shut UP shut-in' up!

QUOTE (seegodkai)
the end is near...

Looks good but go back to Plotz it flows and is a much easier read. You want fewer question marks and blank stares in response to your essay.

You might want to consider the other side (which neither you nor Plotz take into consideration), the vendor and banking side of identity theft and privacy. Vendors and banks must have confidence in their transactions.

oops sorry  i meant to delete this like all the others i posted while as i writing my paper.

funny that people responded to it though, heh.

entry--thank you for your suggestions, this is just the rough draft of the conclusion, not the whole paper tongue.gif and plotz's only appearance is his quote above. i liked the way he worded it. most of the paper focuses on the Copyright Act, which forbids the ownership of data/information.

just to explain: the paper was answering the question, "is the propertization of private information a desirable way to protect individual privacy?" i had to address the red herrings of the 4th and 5th amendments because the people who came up with this idea tried to use them as their foundation (but bulwarks against tyranny, while they may also protect one's privacy, are not in my opinion premised on protecting privacy interests but on protecting liberty interests).

sorry you don't like my writing style, can't please everyone biggrin.gif but you know it couldn't really have been in the same tone as plotz's anyway because his audience is general mass media, but mine is a graduate professor, who doesn't like me very much. i only had to refute that propertization is the only way to protect against identity theft and governmental tyranny (i don't think it would protect against either really--does owning your home prevent burglary? or brownshirts?)

bankers and lenders have always had to shoulder the risk of loss, until fairly recently--and until fairly recently they were careful about who they lent to and they took serious precautions to protect the integrity of the transaction--now you don't even have to sign for credit card purchases :? . but anyway that is way beyond the scope of my paper, and i am sure everyone is quite bored with this topic and has fallen asleep by now
