Only Uppsala, and since recently Göteborg, offer 5 year "farmacevt" programs. Some other unis also offer 2 year "receptarie" programs (pharmaceutical assistant i.e. the people in white robes you see at Apoteket).

I was thinking that the quality of training could not be to high given that it would we designed to churn out public servants. The 2 year course confirms that to me now.

I find this a bizaare thing to say - the training is must more stringent than in most countries - certainly than the UK - all Apoteket staff must be granduates with at least a 3 year dispensing degree

In order to be a Pharmacist - you need to take the full 5 year pharmacist degree which involves 200 weeks of study (4 years in UK involving 120 weeks of study)

In order to even work in a Pharmacy in Sweden to sell people asprins and plasters you need a 3 year (not 2 years) degree in dispensing (Receptarie) as even for over the counter medications you must give expert advice - whereas in the UK such medicine can be sold by 16 year olds...

Paria - this is possibly a good area to get into with the privatisation of Apoteks

The places that you can do a receptarie degree are:'
Uppsala
Gothenburg
Umeå
Karlstad
Kalmar
and possibly Luleå
