Hi,

Does anyone know of a best place to buy a second hand piano in Skane?

Where can I find a private piano tutor? how much do you think they will charge per hour?

Thanks

J.

To buy a piano you could check out Blocket - I've also seen them in Charity shops when they've done a house clearance

For lessons you could contact the kommun music or culture skolan - they provide private lessons for adults and children

Did you hear about the pianist who kept banging his head against the keys?
He was playing by ear.

Hi J!

The folks here are right, Blocket is a good place to look..some music stores may have secondhand pianos.

As for tutors, whereabouts in Skåne do you live? do you want your lessons in Swedish or English?

Thanks all.

I will do that.

I will need tuition in English.

I am moving in about 10weeks to Tollarp. So will probably be looking at getting it around autumn. Thought I will start asking around.
I just hope the lessons wont cost a fortune, in which case I'll just learn myself. I played keyboard as a kid so it shouldnt be too difficult to get back into it.

Perhaps you contakt Kommunala Musikskolan i Kristainstad, which is for youth up to 20, and ask them for contacts to private tutors. It is a municipality (kommun) sponsored musikschool that all kommuner (municipalities) in Sweden have. They surely know and perhaps some of their piano teahers also give private lessons.

And here are some other potentially useful websites:

Swedish Piano Teachsers Federation - with a list of local contacts to tuitor 'brokers':
http://www.sppf.net/wp/pianoundervisning/

Run these sites through Google's translator, which usually do an ok, but not perfect, job translating Swedish -> English. If you get stuck let me know and I can help out.

Hi J!

I am English and live in Höör. I play piano and passed my Grades 1-6 all with merit and my Grade1 & 5 theory with distinction.

Although I could teach I think I´d be lousy at it, but if you need my help at all just let me know and I´ll gladly help you out. Getting back on track shouldn´t be too hard for you as you´ve played keyboard before.

So, welcome to Sweden when you get here!

Hugs!

You will find one on blocket.

http://www.blocket.se/

Also a lot of second hand stores have pianos and synthesizers.

Look for shops with the word loppis in there name or description.

Also try

www.halmenmusik.se

Also try Landskrona, Höör Eslöv and Helsingborg second hand shops. Apparently they come in there on occassion.
