Hi I found a flat on Blocket, turns out it is leased by this rental agency called MMPrimeRent:

http://mmprimerent.com/

They have a bit of an unusual way of operating, namely they ask you to send a deposit and then mail the key so you can view the flat and decide whether you want to take it (in which case they send a representative and sign a contract) or not (in which case they send your deposit back). This could cut the costs of the entire rental procedure but it requires a lot of trust, so my question is has anyone used this service and if so was everything fine? What do you guys think?

Ok anyone thinking about renting from them - please be very careful, I don't have a way of proving this is a scam, but after thinking over this it look like a very well organised scam aimed at expats.

Just wonder how much they ask for "deposit"?

hmm, not sure if it is legit:

Yes, so I am even more impressed because they had to plan this in advance and hijacked some genuine discussion groups. What made me think twice was that they were asking for 2 months rent as a *deposit* - you should never send money before signing a contract or seeing a property. Also, look at these they actually tried to fake genuine trust rating sites:

http://verifyprivacytrustes.com/clicktover...Apartments.html

(if you click anywhere it sends you to a genuine site trusty.com website which looks kinda the same, but if you go for http://verifyprivacytrustes.com you quickly realise that the only website which has been rated on this site is...MMPrimeRent!) I hope people considering renting with MMPrimeRent will stumble upon this post before they go ahead and transfer any money.

1. The rent is too low for that area of Stockholm, and I also thought the windows looked far too small for an older apartment in our fair city!

2. They claim the mother company in the UK has registration number 09005884, that actually belongs to quite a successful property group called Zoopla property group:

...why not drop the main group an email to see if it is them, either it is (and possibly legit) or they might indeed be interested themselves in knowing of a scam as they have a reputation to maintain wink.gif
