What are people’s thoughts on this? Seems like what sweden really wants to do is ban all practice of Islam.

And isn’t it better that there are Islamic schools rather than Muslim people complaining about the western infidel ways of public school in swe?

Religious freedom unless you’re Muslim... is that how it goes?

To me religion is a form of cult, man made with no proof of any of its claims. I am sorry but I believe in science and facts which can be proven, some of which are disputed by religion.
Having said that I believe that religion should be treated like tobacco and alcohol. No religion should be taught in school or at home, or in fact introduced to under 18's when people should be able to make their own decisions.

Religion should have no place in education, if you want to believe in magic and cloud people do it in your own time.

I agree that no religion should be taught in school. Is sweden doing this equally or have they targeted Muslims? I figure that most likely is that it’s just the spin of the story that targets Muslims.

however, it’s funny it becomes an issue when more Islamic schools appear.

I don’t know if there’s door to door religious salesmen in sweden like jehovas witness or jclds in America. But imagine the uproar there would be if Muslims were doing the same!!!

They use the internet for recruitment purposes.

So?

You mean they have websites? I’ve never once gotten spam from any local mosque. I’ve seen people handing out the Qaran and they are far less vocal than the Christian counterpart.

I still think people whose area has been populated by jehovas witnesses going door to door would flip their shit if it were Muslims doing the same thing.

Last time the JW's came to my house, I was splitting wood and I asked if they wanted to help. Never heard from them again.

The Local has given its own spin on an opinion by the education minister. He has clearly stated it in religion agnostic words in the original interview - I think its a good approach if uniformly implemented.

That said, the Swedish church still gets too much assistance from the Govt for it to be able to claim clear state-religion separation - Sweden has to break the link completely.

Try to open a Christian school in Saudi Arabia and the treatment that Islamic schools get in Sweden will seem like a red carpet.

This is the typical argument of the far-right "nationalist" anywhere in the world.

They compare their own country with the worst examples on earth to say "hey, we might have got worse but we are still better than the worst".

A patriot always wants their own country to continue to keep progressing and setting the highest standards for others to follow and say "hey, we need to fix this issue and progress further, not regress".

Worst example??? Try the same thing in Afghanistan, Iran and a host of other Islamic countries. Face it, Islam is not the religion of tolerance that it claims to be.
