1) "...The Rise of Swedish Exceptionalism:

To understand how Sweden got to this point requires a short review of Swedish exceptionalism: how Sweden’s elites convinced themselves, and their population, that their country is more moral and righteous than the rest of the world."

2) "Light at the End of the Tunnel?

Sweden faces massive challenges in coming decades, challenges that require sober and pragmatic approaches rather than fantasies derived from progressive ideology."

Meatball cult, anyone?

Another great point from the above linked article, "The confusion of the Swedish Left as its simultaneous embrace of feminism and Islamism clashed with one another would be amusing if the consequences were not so dire."

So on the mark!

"By contrast, Swedes are reluctant to speak out against a perceived consensus, which they tend to follow—until it fractures. In recent times, this phenomenon has been named the “opinion corridor”: a society with a very narrow space of acceptable political speech, with everything outside considered beyond the pale and leading to the exclusion or banishment of the perpetrator. In this sense, Swedish society as a whole could be likened to a liberal U.S. college campus, where views challenging the dominant Left-liberal ideology are voiced only at one’s own peril."

Bahahahaaaa!

"But reality has a tendency eventually to break even the most rigid dogmas. In Sweden the reality that ate away at the national fantasy was the gradual decay of four core functions of the state: education, health, public order, and defense."

Spot on!

The author didn't bother to sign the article. The fact s(he) points out are just too much for the opinion corridor that prevail in Sweden.

Way to go Henrietta Horn*, you proved the illusion of free press and liberty of thinking by that exist in Sweden by being forced to use a pseudonym to stay safe.

* Henrietta Horn is the pseudonym of a Swedish writer.

This piece was one of the most comprehensively apt summaries of Meatballia I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

It is simply an honest analysis, which is enough in Sweden to cause anyone capable of such to hide their identity, at all costs.

Totally agree. There are so disillusioned people who point to the "Swedish model" as a direction that other countries should emulate without truly knowing what is actually happening in Sweden today.

Thanks for posting that article.

Interesting article on the dangers of Political leadership that did not follow the needs and wishes of their electorate, but instead created and implemented what it dictated to the people as what they thought the people needed...

A King could do no worse!!!

"Immigration is only part of the problem: For years, core elements of the state showed evidence of significant dysfunction. After the 180-degree turn in immigration policy, normally deferential Swedish voters suddenly began questioning their political class as never before. Once begun, the public’s willingness to obey their thought police in government and media dissipated rapidly; it was as though a magic spell of some sort had been broken. Since then, Swedes have begun to remake their country’s politics, and there is now no going back. But exactly what lies ahead is not yet clear."

But unfortunately, the thought of letting Sven and Gunn-Britt take the reins recalls the early days of post-apartheid South Africa, where as a result of the previous brutal regime, the newly in-charge lacked education/skills necessary (through no fault of their own) to keep things running.

Of course, Sweden is indeed a total cream-puff by comparison (no offence meant to anyone who suffered in S.A. or elsewhere). But still...loads of work to be done there, and who's gonna be able do it? When you run things into the ground, the re-build starts at ground-level.

Let's not forget, the Social Ds pulled the immigration nightmare off with huge public support. I think they (the Meatballs) started questioning "themselves" long before their deified Meatballian elites.

And to think they would (and still do) yell "racist" every time someone asked/asks legitimate, discussion deserving questions, with respect to their (at one time) open-borders "policy".

So you found an article that supports your kvetching curmudonalist views on Sweden. This "magazine" is reported to have a bias towards "RIGHT-CENTER". So "These media sources are slightly to moderately conservative in bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor conservative causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information, but may require further investigation."

I read the article and thought it was further to the right than the magazine is described as. Also thought it was a load of regurgitated propaganda from the far right. And perhaps the author is actually the leader of the Silly Dickheads or at least one of the nazis in there. If you can't put your name to something like this then it could just be a bunch of Russian trolls or the like.

It will certainly reinforce the negative views that some have. Therefore written for a very receptive audience here but in reality far off the mark! I don't even give it marks for effort.

The article makes good sense. That you are unreceptive to it...your problem.

But thanks for the hand-waving example, you fit right in here with the rest of your "can't-stand-your-ground" "I-have-nothing-to-say" ultra-radical, ultra-confused Meatballian Meatbots.
