So... Catch Up TV doesn't work with a VPN and was wondering if any Brits in Sweden are using a Proxy server and have it working?

Cheers laugh.gif

Works fine for me.
Watching live BBC as we speak in Sweden via VPN
byke
Are you on a pc or mac?
Majick
I'm using a PC... What VPN are you using??

Thanks for the reply smile.gif

Byke, can you break it down how you are getting live BBC, please? Nothing too technical. Thanks.
byke
Basically, I am on a mac and use a company called www.ukvpn.info
Basically after you have set up the VPN ( instructions on the website) you connect the VPN ... And simply go to whatever site you are looking to watch (example BBC.co.Uk/iplayer)

However I must say that I have been also using another system called www.filmon.com which doesnt require a VPN for live streaming Uk tv ... So far I have been really happy with it and it's a good alternative to a VPN for live streaming tv (not catchup)
Majick
So the www.filmon.com site costs how much in SEK? And you have access to all those channels?

Is it reliable? What kind of internet connection do you have?
byke
I think I pay in usd which works out about 140 a month ... I sign up on a month by month basis as I don't think film on will stay for too long due to legal reasons ... I am on a fast net connection, but this service is good speeds etc ... Yes you get all the channels apart from porn unless you pay the extra
Keithy
Cheers for the info Byke.

I'm on a mac too, and I just downloaded the FilmOn player. I had it before for a good while, but it seems that BBC1, ITV and CH4 are now free. Is this your understanding?
Majick
I'm still on ADSL connection until June til the fibre optic cable is installed in my area... Until then, all I can get is good sound quality but whack picture angry.gif

I use expatshield for free.

http://expatshield.com/
Majick
And that works on Catch Up TV?
William Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha
It gives you a UK ip address. It works on BBC iplayer and the itv channels but for some reason not directly on channel 4, although it does work on channel 4 programmes via youtube (normally blocked).
Majick
Okay. But does this Ex-Pat shield work on www.tvcatchup.com?
William Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha
Try it and it see.
Majick
I'm not gonna try it if it doesn't work.
Opalnera
www.surfthechannel.com is fairly good if you want to watch streaming.
byke
If you go to www.filmon.com you can test it for free to see if it works for you without needing to sign up.

tellyabroad also gives you a free trial then it is €5 a month.

In case anyone is interested in watching the Channel 4 news satire 10 O'Clock Live (15th and possibly last episode aired last thursday) it is up on youtube.
