3. The local Tel Aviv paper Ha'ir ran a 12-page expose of Abu Kabir and revealed how the national lab allows medical students to practice on bodies sent there for autopsies, and transfers body parts for transplants without permission from the family of the deceased.

4. The family of a Scottish tourist Alastair Sinclair, who allegedly hung himself in an Israeli jail, who were forced to bring a lawsuit for the return of missing body parts. University of Glasgow pathologists, who did an autopsy at the request of Sinclair's family, found that it had been returned without a heart (which they suspect was used for a transplant).

This is not a question of freedom of speech.

I have been in Russia many times and they remember the war as the "patriotic war" and they do not hate the germans nor the europeans. This is my problem with the current situation. Criticise Israel and you must be anti-semitic. How is that fair? Regardless of whether the article is true or not , Israel's labeling of the Swedish government as a bunch of anti-semtics for refusing to condem it is perhaps one of the most inane and hypocritical statements I have read. Critiscism of a possible behaviour or practice, does not automatically equal criticism of a race or religion.

I get tired of hearing the holocaust card being played over and over again. Sweden is a country of free speech where it is possible to ask tough questions, to present evidence and to open up lively and interesting debates on sensitive matters. Now I do not know whether Israel is involved in organ harvesting, but the article presents some interesting evidence which should be investigated. I would have thought Israelis would WANT this investigating! The photograph that accompanies their news story is incendiary and hardly an example of "objective journalism." It is an example of a kind of "Left" journalism in which the Swedish left engages in "solidarity" with Palestinians. Yet, it is all a pseudo-solidarity really. The biggest sponsor of the Israeli government is the United States. Aftonbladet has not called for any campaign against the U.S. government. Perhaps they believe the US government is controlled by Israel (a myth that would let them off the hook on that score).

There is no evidence, just questions. It is just a moral formula for the Swedish "Left" to look good, score points, without doing much to authenticate and prove anything. The photograph is telling the reader that something is proven. Why? Because IF the accusation turns out to be false, then what was the point of the photograph? This Aftonbladet's allegations are obviously false and attack Jews in general, not just Israel, since it also says, without proof, that US Jews are involved in the alleged conspiracy.

Aftonbladet's argument is based hearsay, on interviews with Palestinians alone. The problem with that is that Aftonbladet's subjects have strong motivation to lie, they each receive thousands of dollars in foreign aid each year and claims of victimisation could increase this amount. In addition, since we are dealing with a conflict here, it would not be hard to find people willing to lie to demonise the other side. A real reporter would check the facts.

The claims of US Jews being involved in the "conspiracy" to steal organs represents some of the best proof that Aftonbladet is lying for racist purposes.

One Rabbi was arrested for selling a kidney (and admitted to being involved in many other organ sales), there has been no link made between the Rabbi's organ sales and Israel, and he didn't get them from Palestinians, he conned desperate people into selling their organs to him. To link him to the IDF without the slightest bit of proof isn't journalism, its lazy conspiracy theory at its worst.

That Aftonbladet feels the need to lie in order to accuse American Jews of stealing organs as well proves more about Aftonbladet than about Israel.

As for the photo, that is obviously from an autopsy, Israel verifies the cause of death of terrorists in order to defend itself from other false accusations that have been made by papers like Aftonbladet against Israel.

In the whole of Israel there are less than 6,000,000 and about 13,000,000 worldwide. This is just to say that freedom is a relative thing, and democracy needs boundaries in order to protect itself. In most countries who have a system based on the rule of law ( and I believe Sweden to be one of them) the person publishing accusations of a grave crime ought to prove them or be open to claims of Defamation.

Any Newspaper that publishes anything, must first protect itself from action for libel by ensuring that there is enough evidence to support the allegations being made in the article. Freedom of speach and freedom of the press does not mean that anybody can say anything with impunity.

Guys: This discussion forum is loosing focus. The question is, should the Swedish government apologies to the Israeli government?

Those who claim heinous crimes are being committed by Israeli Defense Force (IDF) on the defenseless Palestinians should present their sources so that the world would learn more about the cruelty of that society or part of that society. Those who counter argue should show how the sources presented were unreliable. In this respect, one example that stands out is a recent UN report about the atrocities committed by IDF in Gaza. The report does not have rude words or slanders but the hard facts. The only thing the Israeli government was able to say was it was biased hoping that readers would have doubts in their mind.

If we do not focus on the subject, we will fall in the trap that aggressive governments skillful lay for us. At the beginning of this discussion two people have identified two sources that are incriminating sources. I would like to see more of this kind of sources presented.

A question of freedom of speech is not the issue, anymore?

Sweden's support of the press, regardless of facts not gathered by the press, and it's defensive response to the government of Israel, reflects a racist, Swedish goverment.

The Swedish government might have stated "The Swedish government believes in the freedom of speech but in this case, the government does not support the news article because it lacked the evidence to support it's claim."

Freedom of the press or freedom of speech does not mean you have a right defame another person or government. When you defame a person and the facts are not true, you open yourself to a legal action. When, a newspaper defames a nation like Israel, and the nation (Sweden) fails to condemn racist comments, the nation being defamed should not have any commuications with the government(Sweden).

For the first time ever have I surfed to a Swedish paper on line. I always thought highly of the Swedes but I am staggered to see so much hatred towards the Jewish people (not Israelis but Jews) This of course is the definition of anti-semitism and too many of the above require me to report abuse that I am writing this instead. Shame!!!!

Sorry but I feel the need to put some facts in here due to the rants of some proclaiming Sweden to be a moral and honest place to put your money in. During WWII Sweden supplied vasts amount of Iron Ore, Ball Bearings and other engineering parts to the Nazi war machine. Sweden even let them use their territory to invade Norawy. Also when Deutchmarks were in short supply, Sweden took payment in Nazi gold (or Jewish gold from its various sources eg teeth).....that gold is still here. It wasnt until 1943 when the Swedish govt realised they backed the wrong horse and switched sides. Intrinsically Swedes are opportunistic businessmen and today are huge exporters of arms. I am pro sweden believe it or not....but please stick to facts and the true nature of the country.

The real question is whay do we have any diplomatic realations or dealings with Isreal at all... Until this nation built on genocide and enthic cleansing complies with all UN Resolutions and abides by the Geneva Coventions and submits it leaders and officials to face the International Court in the Hague for War Crimes... which our government should be demanding that they do... we should be expell their ambassadors and withdraw ours... and implement and champion economic sanctions...

We as Swedes... if we are committed to our ideals of Human rights, peace, freedom, equality and the rule of law should begin to take and make the hard choices necessary for their peaceful implementation both here and abroad... begining wiht diplomatic islolation such as denying visas and working up to economic isolation of Isreal...

This is just another publicity campaign by the government of Isreal... to manipulate public and political opinion... as it comes under pressure once again from the international community... to live within in law and constructs of civilized nations... to eturn to it's orignainal borders abandon it's illegal expansion and comply with all UN resolutions meant to resolve it's issues with the Palestinian People...
