'Saddam's body guard' to be deported from Sweden

An Iraqi man who claimed to have worked as a bodyguard for Saddam Hussein is to be deported from Sweden despite findings by the Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket) that his life is at risk if he returns to Iraq.

The government decided to deport the 45-year-old man because the Swedish security service Säpo judges the man to be a security risk, according to Sveriges Radio (SR).

The man came to Sweden in 2003, and his wife and sons have all been granted permanent residency.

The man explained in his asylum application that he had worked as a bodyguard for the family of the deposed Iraqi leader, as well as in a secret court where prisoners were tortured.

In a 2006 decision, the Migration Board wrote that it would be dangerous for the 45-year-old to return to Iraq.

“It can’t be ruled out that the man may be recognized and as a result subject to extrajudicial measures directed at his person or his life,” wrote the Migration Board.

But the man is nevertheless set to be deported from Sweden because of Säpo’s assessment.

The justification for Säpo’s decision to classify the man as a security risk remains classified.

The government weighed in on the question and has decided that the deportation should be carried out.

According to lawyer Birgitta Elfström, who works with human rights issues, the government is making the wrong decision.

She claims it is against the law to deport someone whose life is at risk, even if that person is a security risk.

Säpo cannot tell the difference between a frog and a spider.Whats more concerning is why does sweden accept so many scumbags.

if this guy is a security risk as Sapo assume, why was he allowed into the country in the first place? And if he has been in the country since 2003,with no problems, why is he a security risk now? The term "classified" information is used too often in these cases, usually for no good reason. This mans life is in more danger now that it has been announced that he will be sent back....maybe that should have been classified too? I see this as another inter-goverment-departmental screw up!

b-jews did not stay for long in Palestine (this is of course according to the bible), they built strong kingdom for 80 years and then this kingdom spitted into 2 kingdoms. these 2 kingdoms co-existed with other strong plestinains small entities. anyway the two jewish kingdoms lasted for maximum 300 years (according to the bible), then jews were expelled and thier existence as entity was over, and after that very small minorities lived in Palestine.

c-so we conclude here: palestinians were there before, israelis as entity lived in palestine for 400 years. palestinians lived before the jewish arrival to palestine, co-existed with the jewish during their role and then stayed in palestine when the jewish were expelled out of palestine. d-apart from the bible, let us look at the historical places in PALESTINE. all of the old buildings are arabic buildings. jews have not even a single historical place there. when people live in a place for long time, they create civilizations. we see the roman historical places everywhere. we see the arab historical buildings in spain everywhere as witness for their existence there. what jews have in palestine???

e-another issue: even those jews who left from palestine, how can we connect them to palestine? they left thousands years. many of them were converted to other religions. some people from other religion converted to Judaism. so it is very stupid to take about Judaism as religion because then this will mean that if anyone of you guys here converts to Judaism then he will have a right on palestine!!!

f- those who gives jews a right on palestine, don't you think about palestinains? u dont care about them! u want to expel them and make them live in refugee camps in order to let the jews come ftom all over the world. is this acceptable from any ethical perspectives?

for the guy who does not like israel's neighbor, namly, hamas and hizbulla: okey first, israel is an illegal country. i guess u mean the occupied palestine's neighbor.

ok. what is the problem with hizbullah? why r u concealing facts from people? u should mention that israel is occupying part of lebanon that 's why hizbulla is resisting the israeli occupation. mention this please. so it is israel is the aggressor, not hizbulla.

mention that israel is occupying palestine, that is why hamas is resisting the israeli occupation, so itis israel is the aggressor , not hamas.

Against the law to deport someone whose life is in danger even if they present a risk to Sweden? Surely that is mad. Swedish security comes 1st. Should always be that way.

It is against the law to deport someone whose life is at risk, even if that person is a security risk. I agree to lawyer Birgitta Elfström. She is saying it will be a wrong dicision of swedish state to send him back to Iraq.

I don't remember this time but, I read a news on thelocal.se some time ago that a pakistani was sent to pakistan from sweden. After some days he was killed in pakistan. The same thing will happen with this gaurd I belived. So, I think Swedish government may not send 'Saddam's body guard' back to Iraq.

Thank you very much,

Good. Now they need to send back all of the rapists and violent criminals. They could effectively empty their jails that way.

I have run into many unrepentant Baathist in Sweden. Several of them claim to have close ties to Sadaam's family, and are even in posession of some of the families loot. (Thats if gold plated shotguns aren't common in sweden...)

Then again, I've run into Iraqis that say they aren't Iraqis, but rather Kurds or people that are so ashamed of Iraq/is they don't want to be associated with it anymore and want to start anew.

This story is hardly news to anyone that is living in sweden.

If Sweden deports him despite knowing that he will be killed, and if he gets killed then all those who supports his deportion here or in government share his blood on their hands. Nothing can be compared with moral and human values, and some time we the human being has to think HIGH.
22:17 September 21, 2009 by mkvgtired
For all of you against his deportation I say to you it is better he is killed than even one innocent Swede. Depending on the intelligence the Swedish police have, I applaud them for trying to keep terrorism out of Sweden. Notice how his lawyer did not make the case he was not a threat, but rather said it is illegal to deport him if his life is in danger, even if he IS a threat.

Apparently he wasn't so concerned about his life when he was Saddam's bodygaurd!! Btw what about prosecuting him for cooperating with a man who commited genocide?

I also wonder why he was allowed to come to Sweden in the first place!

I don't know where he or his wife and sons will or can go but I do know that W Bush and Dick Cheney are the real war criminals, the real 'Hitlers' whose lies led to not only the cover up of those responsible for 911 that include Marvin Bush and the Kuwait royals with their 'blood hate' of Saddam Hussein and who ran the security(stock)fraud Securacom that guarded Dulles Airport on 9/11and had much responsibility for WTC security but also the Israelis Menachem Atzmon and Ezra Harel who were as high level Israeli government insiders as you get and ran the ICTS International security and securities(stock)fraud that bought Huntleigh airport rent-a-cops fromtheir NASDAQ fraud that 'guarded' Logan Airport Boston on 9/11.

Before the war crimes and overthrow and mob lynching of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and the rape and murder of Iraqis defending their own country, women could walk safely in Baghdad without need of a chador.Christians speaking the

language of Jesus long sice lost in Palestine and Israel could go to their churches in safety and Tariq Aziz a Christian held and torturured by W Bush and the Israelis who commited the war crimes held high political office in a Moslem majority country. Not any more and those who call themselves Christians in Europe the USA or elsewhere should be ashamed. The Israelis who lie about being semites will probanly also lie about the 1,000,000 Iraqi deaths whose blood is on their hands. As an American I am ashamed for my country.Carl Bildt

should realise that Swedish soldiers are in Afghanistan under false circumstances and more war crimes, rape and murder are being commited everyday.Osama bin Laden is not wanted by FBI for 9/11 and the bin Laden familyy are business partners of Bush-Cheney and Carlyle,etc..and presumably have made another fortune fromthis
