Fire-fighters were called out in the early hours of Saturday morning to Torslanda school in Gothenburg. The building has been completely destroyed in what police believe to be an arson attack.

The emergency services were alerted around 2.20am on Saturday when an automatic alarm was raised at the school in the Hisingen area of the city.

Around 50 firefighters from three stations were called to the scene but were unable to counter the flames in time to save the building.

”In principle the whole school has been destroyed,” Kent Andersson from the city’s fire department told the Göteborgs-Posten newspaper.

Thick, black smoke continued to be visable from the building on Saturday morning and local residents were advised to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.

The fire was eventually exhausted around lunchtime on Saturday.

The local fire department believe the fire was deliberately started in car, which was parked close to the entrance of the school.

No one is reported to have been injured in the fire and police have begun their inquiries into the incident. A forensic investigation is also due to take place.

The fire affects around 500 high school students who attended Torslanda school.

This morning we had news of the fire by way of the in-laws. The fire was still going at 9am. Their kids aren't old enough to be in that school yet. It is a senseless loss for the community.

How much do you think the kids that started this fire will have to pay back to the community?

Every one has a freedom of expression.Speaking not on the issue and not criticising the people who are responsible for it will encourage them.

I have just read in a Dutch link (Pim Fortuyn Forum) the following sentence:

"Wie gratis vrijheid wil, heeft al voor onvrijheid gekozen!"

The meaning is: The one who want freedom for free, had already chosen for opressing.

This is how far right parties like Sveriges Demokrates are getting momentum. Swedish law must change so that they will not be ruled by a far right group in next 15 years.

Another report says "Fire fighters in Gothenburg were attacked with stones on Thursday night as they rushed to tackle the latest in a series of fires with suspected connections to youth gangs that have raged across the city in the last week"

Ah yes, that wonderful word 'youths'. Now I wonder who they mean by that? One thing I can tell you, it's got nothing to do with their age.
21:44 November 15, 2009 by DreEstwd
Alex, I have a strange feeling that you are right on the money. Cue the left-wing PC brigade attempting to distract from the issue and start crying, "racism".....

I've been reading reports of schools be destroyed by youths in afghanistan over the past few years too.

Probably a coincidence though.
09:03 November 16, 2009 by unkle strunkle
According to MSB, there were 350 school fires in 2004 and 513 in 2008. Forget about Swine Flu, this is the real epidemic!
16:30 November 16, 2009 by Uncle
In Afghanistan it is the same youth who are burning schools here is Sweden. Only there they first complained about their government, then the soviets, then their govt again and then the americans.

Here they are moaning about other things.. The social security does not allow them to buy a 52 inch TV, but only 42 inch. The free apartments are not in the best areas of Stockholm. Free schools demand some kind of homework to be done... There is no sharia law in the government, etc.

In essence, they do not need an actual reason to burn something up. It is just wonderfully fun whenever something is burning (car, school, wife... whatever).

So no - no coincidence there.
17:01 November 16, 2009 by tonycobh
Nonsense Uncle. It has to be - somehow - the fault of the Swedes, not the vulnerable minority doing this.

The PC brigade are very slow off the mark on this one. I wonder why?
00:11 November 17, 2009 by Uncle
Yep, you are right. The PC people are slow on reaction today.

Can you imagine their day?? First they must commence all of these interviews for top managers positions that they cannot refuse to any immigrant.. Then they must run for their volunteer work in the prisons and in institutions for difficult children. Then there is an anti-globalization demonstration.

Then they must take the kids from this mostly Somalian and Sudanese children kindergarten and find a parking spot at Rosengård. Then pour all of this fuel all over the car every evening, so it would be easier for poor children to light it up....

They are probably beat up eh?

It's tough all right, but it makes them feel SOOOOO good.
